Materials: DROPS ITALIAN VELVET,
62% acrylic, 38% polyester, 100 g./55 m./60 yards

Sweater: 700 (800-900) g col. 03 orange/mixed
Hood: 300 g col. 03 orange/mixed
Sweater + Removable Hood: 1000 (1100-1200) g col. 03 orange/mixed

DROPS 8 mm [US 11] and 9 mm [US 13] needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.

Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. Gauge: 6 sts x 9 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].

Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.
Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl *. Repeat from * - *.

Front: Cast on 32 (34-38) sts on larger needles, change to smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and stockinette st. When the work measures 26 (30-31) cm [10.25" (11.75" - 12.25")] bind off at each side for armhole every other row: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 3 (3-5) times = 22 (24-24) sts. When the work measures 42 (45-47) cm [16.5" (17.75" - 18.5")] bind off the center 2 (2-2) sts for the neck. Bind off 1 st at each neck edge every other row 3 (4-4) times. Bind off when the work measures 50 (54-56) cm [19.75" (21.25" - 22")].

Back: Cast on and knit as for the front. Bind off the center 6 (8-8) sts for the neck when the work measures 48 (52-54) cm [18-7/8" (20.5" - 21.25")], then bind off 1 st at each neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 50 (54-56) cm [19.75" (21.25" - 22")].

Sleeve: Cast on 19 (20-20) sts on larger needles, change to smaller needles and knit 4 rows garter st.
Change to larger needles and continue in stockinette st. When the work measures 6 cm [2-3/8"] inc 1 st at each side 4 (4-4) times:
Size S/M: Every 8 cm [3-1/8"]
Size M/L: Alternately every 7 cm [2.75"] and 8 cm [3-1/8"]
Size XL: Every 7 cm [2.75"]
= 27 (28-28) sts. When the work measures 48 (46-44) cm [18-7/8" (18-1/8" - 17.25")] bind off at each side for sleeve cap every other row: 2 sts 1 time, 1 st 1 (3-3) times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the work measures 58 (57-58) cm [22-7/8" (22.5" - 22-7/8")]. Bind off.

Assembly: Sew right shoulder seam. Pick up approx. 30 sts around the neck on smaller needles; join and knit 4-6 rows garter st. Bind off loosely with larger needles. Sew the left shoulder seam and the neck in one. Sew on the sleeves. Sew sleeve- and side seam in one.

Removable Hood:
Cast on 50 sts on larger needles with double yarn, change to single-strand yarn and knit 4 rows garter st, then continue in stockinette st. When the work measures 38 cm [14-7/8"] inc 8 sts evenly distributed on the row = 58 sts. Divide the work in two for a split at the center front and knit the rest of each side separately with 29 sts. Continue to knit stockinette st but knit the edge sts at the center front in garter st throughout. When the work measures 47 cm [18.5"] knit 4 rows garter st, then bind off with double yarn. Sew together at the center back with black wool yarn.
