See diagram A.1. Work entire pattern in stocking st.

Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 76 sts on circular needle size 4 mm with off white. P 1 round. Insert 1 marker in the 1st st at beg of round and 1 marker in the 39th st (= side sts). Then work A.1 (= 38 sts) 2 times on round. Continue like this until A.1 has been work 1 time vertically - REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION. Continue with off white and P 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME at the end of round cast on 20 new sts for strap. Turn piece, cast off the 20 new sts with K and then cast off the remaining 76 sts with P from WS.

Place pot holder flat with the markers at the sides. Sew the pot holder tog at the bottom with grafting/kitchener stiches inside the cast-on edge. Sew the pot holder tog at the top the same way. NOTE: The 20 new sts = loop, sew the end of the loop to the corner of the pot holder.

Knit another pot holder but switch the colours so that the pattern colour is off white and the base colour is red.

= off white
= red
