CROCHET INFO:
Replace first dc at beg of every round with 1 ch. Finish every round with 1 sl st in first ch on round.

INCREASE TIP:
Inc 1 dc by working 2 dc in same st.
STAR PATTERN (in the round):
ROUND 1: Work 3 ch, pick up 5 sts, beg in 2nd ch from hook (= 6 loops on hook), make a YO and pull through all 6 loops, work 1 ch to make a hole over the 6 sts, * pick up 1 st in the hole, pick up 1 st in the side on the last of the 6 sts, pick up 1 st in same ch as the last of the 6 sts was picked up in, 1 st in each of the 2 next ch (= 6 loops on hook), make a YO and pull through all 6 loops, 1 ch *, repeat from *-*, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round.
ROUND 2: Work 2 ch, work 2 htr in each "star hole", finish round with 1 sl st in 2nd ch at beg of round = 25-28 stars (51-57 htr incl the first 2 ch).
ROUND 3: Work 3 ch, pick up 1 st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, 1 st in the first 3 htr on row (= 6 loops on hook), make a YO and pull through all 6 loops, 1 ch, * pick up 1 st in the hole, 1 st in the side on the last of the 6 sts, 1 st in same htr as the last of the 6 sts was picked up in, 1 st in each of the next 2 htr (= 6 loops on hook), make a YO and pull through all 6 loops, 1 ch *, repeat from *-*, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round.
Repeat 2nd round 1 more time, (= 4 rounds in total vertically = 2 stars vertically).
----------------------------------------------------------

HAT:
The piece is worked top down. Work 4 ch on hook size 6 mm with Eskimo and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.

ROUND 1: READ CROCHET INFO! Work 6 dc in ch-ring.
ROUND 2: Work 2 dc in every dc = 12 dc.
ROUND 3: * 1 dc in first dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 18 dc.
ROUND 4: * 1 dc in each of the first 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 24 dc.
ROUND 5: * 1 dc in each of the first 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 30 dc.
ROUND 6: * 1 dc in each of the first 4 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 36 dc.
ROUND 7: * 1 dc in each of the first 5 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 42 dc.
ROUND 8: * 1 dc in each of the first 6 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 48 dc. REMEMBER THE CROCHET TENSION!
ROUND 9: Work 1 dc in every dc and inc 3-9 dc evenly on round - READ INCREASE TIP = 51-57 dc.

Then work 1 dc in every dc the entire round until piece measures approx. 12-13 cm from the top. Now work STAR PATTERN – see explanation above. Star pattern measures approx. 5 cm vertically. Piece measures 17-18 cm in total. Work 1 dc in every htr.

Now work brim in the round as follows:
ROUND 1: * 1 dc in each of the first 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc *, repeat from *-* = 68-76 dc.
ROUNDS 2-3: Work 1 dc in every dc.
ROUND 4: Work 1 dc in every dc and inc 8-4 sts evenly = 76-80 dc.
ROUND 5: Work 1 dc in every dc.
ROUND 6: Work 1 dc in every dc.
Work 1 edge around the brim as follows: Turn piece, work from WS but work backwards (i.e. work from left to right) as follows: Work 1 ch, * 1 htr in first/next dc, 1 ch, skip 1 dc *, repeat from *-* the entire round, finish with 1 sl st in first ch.

Nydelig hatt!

Alexandra 07.10.2016 - 05:01:

I'd like to do this in Merino due to its softness - what type of Merino used in double could successfully replace Eskimo? Thank you very much for your help!

DROPS Design 07.10.2016 kl. 08:51:

Dear Alexandra, 2 strands yarn group C = 1 strand yarn group E, so that you could use 2 strands Big Merino instead - read more here. Happy crocheting!

Super cute and stylish ! Love the stitch pattern around the edge. I would love to make this hat.

Rebecca Gibbs 15.06.2016 - 06:33:

During my friends cemo a while back we used your patterns people at the clinic and around town loved the hats, she still wears them while her hair is growing back. I look at this hat and think it would be such a cute cemo cap as well or just a cute winter cap.

Lauren McRoberts 12.06.2016 - 01:24:

A cute hat! I would like to try it!
