GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows in pattern seen from RS.

Piece is worked back and forth in 2 parts and sewn tog in the sides.

Cast on 32-36-40 sts with Vienna or Melody on needle size 20 mm. Work in GARTER ST - see explanation above. When piece measures approx. 16-20-24 cm, work next row as follows from RS: 2 sts in garter st in each side of piece and A.1 over the remaining sts (= 7-8-9 repetitions). When A.1 has been worked one time vertically (piece measures approx. 42-46-50 cm), insert 2 markers in each side of piece as follows (i.e 4 markers): The first after 7-7-8 sts and the second 13-14-16 sts in from the side. Then work in garter st – AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st on right side of each marker (K 2 tog), repeat dec alternately on the right and left side of all 4 markers on every row from RS 3-3-4 more times, then dec only at the outermost marker in each side 0-1-1 time = 16-18-18 sts remain on needle. Cast off with 2 strands Vienna to get a tighter neck edge - piece measures approx. 57-66-73 cm.

Work as on back piece.

Sew tog parts in the side from top and down to the middle of A.1 (or to desired length of side vent) in outer loops of edge sts to get a flat seam.

= K from RS, P from WS
= 1 YO between 2 sts
= K 2 tog

Fabi 03.01.2019 - 21:33:

Buon lavoro!

Shannon Hey 19.10.2018 - 20:23:

Can this pattern be knit in the round?

DROPS Design 22.10.2018 kl. 07:53:

Dear Mrs Hey, there is a side vent on each side (approx from the bottom edge to the middle of A.1 diagram - or adjust length), that's the reason why you are working here each piece separately with a seam at the end. Happy knitting!

Carine 06.11.2015 - 20:37:

Bon tricot!

Edidonna 20.06.2015 - 15:21:

How much yarn (how many balls) should we buy for the medium size?

DROPS Design 22.06.2015 kl. 10:24:

Dear Edidonna, in size S/M, you need 100 g DROPS Vienna, ie 2 balls 50 g. Happy knitting!

Fouanon 07.09.2014 - 21:41:

Bon tricot!

Janet Jones 04.05.2014 - 22:03:

I'm finding the decreasing part of this pattern confusing and wondered if anyone else had the same problem and if so how did they resolve it. Would be good if there was a chart for these row.

DROPS Design 05.05.2014 kl. 09:04:

Dear Mrs Jones, you first put 4 markers then dec 1 st alternately at the right side and at the left side of each marker (ie before/after each marker), then only 1 time on each side of the outermost markers (ie first and last marker). Happy knitting!

Valk Dagmar 23.04.2014 - 13:33:

Bon tricot!
