Gauge: 10 sts x 14 rows = 10 x 10 cm on larger needles in stockinette st.

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.

Rib: * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from * - *.

Measuring-tips: On account of the weight of the garment measure when it is held up, otherwise it will be longer when worn.

Back: Cast on 60-64-68-72-76 sts on smaller needles. Knit 4 cm rib, keeping 1 st at each edge in garter st and starting rib with K 2 after edge st. Change to larger needles and stockinette st, decreasing 4-4-2-2-2 sts evenly distributed on the 1st row = 56-60-66-70-74 sts. When the piece measures 35 and 50 (25 and 35) cm - see Measuring-tips - dec 1 st at each side = 52-56-62-66-70 sts. When the piece measures 71-72-73-74-76 (49-50-51-52-54) cm bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 3 sts 1-1-2-2-2 times, 2 sts 1-2-2-2-3 times and 1 st 3-2-2-3-3 times = 36-38-38-40-40 sts. When the piece measures 90-92-94-96-98 (68-70-72-74-76) cm bind off the center 12 sts for the neck. On the next row dec 1 st at each neck edge = 11-12-12-13-13 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 92-94-96-98-100 (70-72-74-76-78) cm.

Pocket lining: Cast on 14 sts on larger needles and knit stockinette st for 16 cm. Put sts on a st holder and knit another.

Right front: Cast on 30-34-38-38-42 sts on smaller needles. Knit 4 cm rib keeping 1 edge st at side edge and center front in garter st. Begin rib with K2 at center front after edge st. Change to larger needles and stockinette st, decreasing 1-3-4-2-4 sts evenly distributed on the 1st row = 29-31-34-36-38 sts.
Read the entire next section before knitting:
Side shaping: When the piece measures 35 and 50 (25 and 35) cm dec 1 st at the side = 27-29-32-34-36 sts.
Pocket opening: When the piece measures 40 (20) cm knit as follows from center front edge: 8-8-8-10-10 sts stockinette st, put 14 sts on a st holder for pocket opening, knit the remaining sts in stockinette st. On the next row, put the pocket lining in above the 14 sts on a st holder and continue in stockinette st to finished measurements. When the piece measures 71-72-73-74-76 (49-50-51-52-54) cm bind off for armhole at the side as on back = 19-20-20-21-21 sts. When the piece measures 92-94-96-98-100 (70-72-74-76-78) cm put the 8 outermost sts at the center front on a st holder for the neck. Bind off shoulder sts (= 11-12-12-13-13 sts).

Pocket edge: Put 14 sts from st holder on smaller needles. Knit 4 cm rib keeping 2 sts in garter st at each edge, bind off in pattern. Sew sides of pocket edge to front. Sew pocket lining to wrong side in such a way that the sts do not show on right side.

Left front: Cast on and knit the same as the right, reversing all shaping.

Sleeve: Cast on 30-30-34-34-34 sts on smaller needles. Knit rib for 8 cm, keeping 1 st at each edge in garter st. Change to larger needles and stockinette st. When the piece measures 9 cm inc 1 st at each side every 9-7-8-6-5.5 cm a total of 5-6-5-6-6 times = 40-42-44-46-46 sts. When sleeve measures 47-46-43-42-40 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2-1-1-1-0 time and 1 st 2-4-7-8-10 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 58 cm. Bind off the remaining sts.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.
Left button band: Pick up from right side inside of 1 edge st approx. 94 to 106 sts (70 to 82 sts) – divisible by 4 + 2 – along front edge on smaller circular needles. Knit rib as follows from lower edge (row 1 = wrong side): K 2 (edge sts knit in garter st throughout), * P 2, K 2 * (= K 2, P 2 on right side), repeat from * - * and finish at top with P 2 (= K 2 on right side) and 2 edge sts in garter st. When the rib measures 4 cm bind off all sts in rib.
Right button band: Pick up and knit the same as left but after 1 cm bind off for 8 (8) buttonholes evenly distributed. Place the bottom buttonhole approx. 20 (6) cm from lower edge and top buttonhole approx. 5 (5) cm from top edge. 1 buttonhole = bind off 1 st and on the next row yo over the bound off st.
Collar: Pick up 40 sts around the neck (incl. sts from st holders and over button bands) on smaller needles. If you pick up more or less than 40 sts dec/inc evenly distributed on 1st row to 40 sts. Knit rib (row 1 = wrong) keeping 1 st at each edge in garter st and begin rib with K 2 at each side (as seen from the right side when the collar folds out). When the collar measures 4 cm inc all P 2 to P 3 (as seen from the right side) = 49 sts. Continue the rib until the collar measures approx. 8 cm, now inc all K 2 to K 3 (as seen from the right side) = 59 sts. When the collar measures approx. 10 cm bind off all sts in rib. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. Sew on buttons.
