Salve!

Buon lavoro!

Apologies! I've been through the pattern again & sorry I see it does say on the increasing tip that the increases are on rows 1-8. However later it says to increase on every row. Maybe that should be changed to read rows 1-8. Now to pull it out & start again!

I've completed the left front following the instructions to increase each side of the marker stitch on every shortening row. My tension is correct at 48 rows & 24 sts to 10cms but the piece is not wide enough, there are not enough rows competed. Are you meant to only increase on rows 1-8 & not rows 9&10? If so the pattern should say so.

Inc 1 st by making 1 YO and K YO into back of loop on return row to avoid a hole. SHORTENED ROWS (applies to front piece): Work shortened rows to make jacket wider along bottom edge (first row = from RS). Row 1-8: work all sts, turn and work return row. Row 17-18: work all sts, turn and work return row. Row 19-20: work all sts, turn and work return row. Worked back and forth on circular needle in order to fit in all sts. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Cast on 47-44-42-37-33-28 sts on circular needle size 3 mm with Fabel. Work 2 rows back and forth on needle (first row = RS). Insert a marker in the last st on needle (as seen from RS). Work 1 row from RS, AT THE SAME TIME cast on 1 new st at the end of row (i.e. after st with marker) = 48-45-43-38-34-29 sts. Work 1 row from WS. NOW READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! Continue back and forth on needle (first row = RS), AT THE SAME TIME on every row from RS inc 1 st each side of st with marker - see INCREASING TIP! AT THE SAME TIME work SHORTENED ROWS - see above. Continue like this until there are 144-151-159-168-178-187 sts on needle. Now slip the first 96-98-101-103-106-108 sts (from RS) on a stitch holder = 48-53-58-65-72-79 sts left on needle, work these. Insert a marker, and now measure piece from here. Next row = from WS. Continue back and forth on needle, AT THE SAME TIME cast on new sts for sleeve at the end on every row from WS: 11-7-11-5-12-7 sts 1 time and 8-8-6-6-4-4 sts 9-9-11-11-14-14 times. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 6 cm from marker dec 1 st for neck at the beg of every row from WS a total of 11-12-13-14-15-17 times. When all inc for sleeves are complete insert a marker, and now measure piece from here. When all inc for sleeves and dec for neck are complete there are 120-120-122-122-125-125 sts on needle. Continue back and forth on needle until piece measures 16-17-17-18-18-19 cm from marker. Cast off loosely. RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Cast on 47-44-42-37-33-28 sts on circular needle size 3 mm with Fabel. Work 3 rows back and forth on needle (first row = RS). Insert a marker in the first st on needle (as seen from RS). Work 1 row from WS, AT THE SAME TIME cast on 1 new st at the end of row (i.e. after st with marker) = 48-45-43-38-34-29 sts. Work 1 row from RS. Now continue as described for left front piece (NOTE! first row in Shortened rows = from WS). Cast off the 96-98-101-103-106-108 sts at the side and inc for sleeve at the end of every row from RS. BACK PIECE BOTTOM PART: Slip the 96-98-101-103-106-108 sts from stitch holder on left front piece back on circular needle size 3 mm. Insert a marker, and now measure piece from here. Continue back and forth on needle, AT THE SAME TIME work SHORTENED ROWS - see above. Continue until piece measures 40-44-48-53-59-65 cm from marker (measured at the top where shortest). Cast off loosely. BACK PIECE UPPER PART: Pick up 96-106-116-130-144-158 sts along edge of bottom part (i.e. approx 1 st in every other row) on circular needle size 3 mm with Fabel. Continue back and forth on needle, AT THE SAME TIME cast on new sts for sleeve each side as described for front piece = 262-264-270-272-280-284 sts. When all inc for sleeves are complete insert a marker, and now measure piece from here. Continue back and forth on needle until piece measures approx 14-15-15-16-16-17 cm from marker. Now cast off the middle 18-20-22-24-26-30 sts for neck and complete each side separately. LEFT BACK PIECE: = 122-122-124-124-127-127 sts. Continue back and forth on needle, AT THE SAME TIME dec 1 st on every row from neckline a total of 2 times = 120-120-122-122-125-125 sts left on needle. Piece measures approx 16-17-17-18-18-19 cm from marker, cast off loosely. RIGHT BACK PIECE: Like left back piece. ASSEMBLY: Sew right side seam in outer loops of sts to avoid a chunky seam. Sew under arm seams and sew shoulder/upper arm seams. FRONT BAND: Pick up approx 112-114-116-118-120-122 sts along left front piece from neck down towards bottom edge. Work garter st back and forth on needle for 2.5 cm, cast off loosely. Repeat along right front piece, at the same time after 1 cm make 5 buttonholes from WS (i.e. on row from neckline) as follows: Work 2 sts, * cast off 1 st, work 15 sts *, repeat from *-* a total of 4 times, cast off 1 st, work remaining sts on row. Cast on 1 new st over each cast off st on next row. Continue until front band measures 2.5 cm and cast off loosely. Sew on buttons. NECKLINE: Pick up 110 to 146 sts from RS round neck (also pick up on front bands) on circular needle size 3 mm with Fabel. K 3 rows and cast off loosely. |
