Pattern: See diagram M.1. Diagram shows 1 pattern repeat.
Heel dec:
Row 1 (= RS): Work row until 8-9-10 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn the piece.
Row 2 (= WS): Work row until 8-9-10 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn the piece.
Row 3: Work row until 7-7-9 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn the piece.
Row 4: Work row until 7-7-9 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn the piece.
Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are 14 sts on row.

Sock: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 56-56-64 sts on needle size 3 mm with Karisma. K 1 round and continue in rib, K4/P4 for 3 cm. Now work M.1 (make sure to have K over K and P over P from rib). Remember the knitting tension! When piece measures approx 16 cm (adjust to after a full diamond) keep the first 28-28-32 sts on needle for heel and slip the last 28-28-32 sts on a stitch holder (= mid upper foot). Work 5-5.5-6 cm stocking st back and forth on heel sts. Insert a Marking Thread (MT) in piece – now measure piece from here. Now dec for heel - see Heel dec. After heel dec pick up 12-13-14 sts on either side of heel and slip the 28-28-32 sts back on needles = 66-68-74 sts. Continue in M.1 on the 28-28-32 sts on upper foot and work remaining sts in stocking st.
At the same time dec each side as follows: K tog the last 2 sts before the 28-28-32 sts on upper foot into back of loop and K tog the first 2 sts after the 28-28-32 sts. Dec like this on every other round a total of 11-10-11 times = 44-48-52 sts. When piece measures 18-19-21 cm from MT on heel (= approx 4-5-6 cm left) insert 1 MT each side with 22-24-26 sts on upper foot and 22-24-26 sts under foot. Continue in stocking st on all sts, at the same time dec for toes on each side of both MT as follows:
Dec as follows before MT: K2 tog.
Dec as follows after MT: K 2 tog into back of loop.
Dec like this each side on every other round a total of 5-7-9 times and then on every round 4-3-2 times = 8 sts left on needle. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten.

I’ve knitted to the decrease portion for the toes and find my stitches do not tally with the pattern. i’m going to be left with 28 stitches on the needle—14 on upper and 14 on lower foot. just wondering if there is a typo error in the pattern or have i made a mistake somewhere?

DROPS Design 04.01.2018 kl. 14:59:

Dear Mrs Geklin, you should have 44-48-52 sts after decrease for instep, ie when working toe you will have 22-24-26 sts for both upper and under foot. Happy knitting!
