Materials: DROPS VIENNA
450 (500-550) g col. 60, coal grey
and: DROPS COTTON CHENILLE
150 (150-150) g col. 03, blue

DROPS 4 mm , 4.5 mm and 6 mm circular needles, and 4 mm and 6 mm double pointed needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.

Gauge: 14 sts x 16 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm in Vienna
6 DROPS Buttons.

Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in British English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from cm to inches - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in British and American English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in American English, please click here.
Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts all rows.
Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl *. Repeat from * - *.

Seed stitch (on an even number of sts): All rows: *knit 1, purl 1*
Seed stitch (on an odd number of sts): All rows: K 1, *P 1, K 1*
Seed stitch (worked in the round):
Row 1: * knit 1, purl 1 *
Row 2: * knit the purl sts from the previous row and purl the knit sts from the previous row *

Pattern: * 10 cm stockinette st with Vienna, 2 rows garter st with Cotton Chenille (1st row on the right side) *, repeat from * - *.

Body: Cast on 156 (168-176) sts on mid-size circular needles with Vienna and knit seed st for 6 cm . Change to largest circular needles and knit Pattern - see instructions above. When the work measures 46 (48-51) cm , knit the next row as follows: 37 (40-42) sts for the front, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 74 (80-84) sts for the back, bind off 4 sts for armhole, 37 (40-42) sts for the front. Knit the rest of each part separately.

Front: = 37 (40-42) sts. Bind off for armholes every other row: 2 sts 1 (2-2) times, 1 st 1 (1-3) times = 34 (35-35) sts. When the work measures 62 (65-68) cm , bind off for the neck every other row: 3 (2-2) sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 (2-2) times, 1 st 4 times. Bind off when the work measures 74 (77-80) cm - be sure to bind off with Vienna.

Back: = 74 (80-84) sts. Bind off for armholes as on the front = 68 (70-70) sts. When the work measures 72 (75-78) cm , bind off the center 16 (18-18) sts for the neck. Bind off 1 st at each neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 74 (77-80) cm - be sure to bind off with Vienna.

Sleeves: Cast on 34 (36-36) sts on smaller double pointed needles with black Cotton Chenille; join and place a marker at the join. Knit seed st for 10 cm . Change to larger double pointed needles and knit Pattern as on the body and at the same time inc 1 st each side of marker 22 (23-23) times:
Size S: alternately every other and every 3rd row
Sizes M+L: every other row
= 78 (82-82) sts. When the work measures 47 (46-45) cm , bind off 2 sts each side of marker and knit the rest back and forth on the needles. Bind off for sleeve caps at each side every other row: 6 (5-3) sts 4 (5-7) times. Bind off when the work measures 53 (54-55) cm - be sure to bind off with Vienna.

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 100-108 sts along the left front on mid-size circular needles with Vienna and knit seed st for 3 cm . Repeat along the right front, but after 1 cm make 8 buttonholes evenly distributed on the row (1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and cast on 2 new sts over the bound-off sts on the next row).
Pick up approx. 60 sts around the neck from the wrong side (do not pick up over the button band) on smaller needles with black Cotton Chenille and knit seed st and at the same time inc 2 sts on top of each shoulder every 4th row to finished dimensions. When the collar measures 11 cm , bind off at each side (center front) every other row: 4 sts 3 times and then bind off the remaining sts. Sew on the sleeves and the buttons.
