Hur man mäter stickfastheten och hur man räknar ut ett mönster

Förklaringen gäller både om det stickas eller virkas.

På följande sätt räknar vi ut ett mönster från stickfastheten:

Se alltid på måttskissen och vilken storlek som passar dig.
Här hittar du en lektion om hur man läser våra måttskisser.

Uträkning:
Mönstret är beräknat så att plagget varken blir större eller mindre än måttskissen.
Till uträkningen behöver vi stickfastheten, och vi räknar oss fram såhär:

Om 10 cm på bredden = 20 maskor på bredden
Så är 1 cm på bredden (20 maskor delat på 10 cm) = 2 maskor
Om bålen ska vara 48 cm bred, så räknar vi såhär:
48 cm x 2 maskor = 96 maskor

Konsekvenser:
Om du på 10 cm har 22 maskor i stället för 20 maskor, så betyder det att plagget blir ca 5 cm för smalt i förhållande till måttskissen och det måste räknas om.

Alla maskantal i mönstret är beräknade utifrån angett stickfasthet, det påverkar t.ex. halsringningen – ökningen på ärmar - uppläggningskanten - raglan m.m.

Så du måste byta till en annan storlek på stickorna :)

Stickfasthet och stickprov:

Provlapp:
För att vara säker på att måtten på ditt plagg motsvarar måtten i mönstret, så ska du alltid börja med att göra ett stickprov - på det sättet kan du sticka plagget med rätt stickfasthet.

Lägg upp fler maskor än det stickfastheten säger att du ska ha på bredden, och sticka ett prov som är lite större än 10 cm på höjden, börja med den rekommenderade stickan.

Om stickfastheten ska vara:
20 maskor på bredden och 27 varv i höjden med slätstickning = 10 x 10 cm.
Lägg ett måttband på arbetet och räkna maskorna:
20 maskor = 10 cm på bredden och 27 varv på höjden = 10 cm.

Resultat / konsekvens:
Fler än 20 maskor på 10 cm - byt till tjockare stickor.
Färre än 20 maskor på 10 cm - byt till tunnare stickor.

När du har kommit fram till vilket nummer på stickan du ska använda, så är du redo att börja. Kom också ihåg att kontrollera stickfastheten löpande, då den kan ändra sig under tiden som du stickar.

Stick-nummer - rätt och fel:

Det finns inte något riktigt stick-nummer, det är väldigt individuellt hur man stickar.

Uppgett stick-nummer är endast vägledande.

Hitta det stick-nummer som ger dig den riktiga stickfastheten, och om du måste använda sticka nr. 6 när det i mönstret står sticka nr. 4 så är det det du måste använda.

Många här på DROPS kontoret använder olika stick-nummer när de stickar med samma garn - det är väldigt vanligt.

Typ av sticka:
Detta är också väldigt individuellt.

Det finns stickor gjorda i trä, bambu, metall, plast och mycket mer.
Man hittar sin favorit, och det är vanligt att man stickar med olik stickfasthet på olika sorters stickor.

Ett bra tips är: Får du inte rätt stickfasthet på stickor av metall - prova t.ex. trästickor istället.

Hi! I am starting the Cranberry Kiss Sweater and testing the knitting tension. I\'ve found that I need 8mm needles to get a 10cm swatch. That being said, the pattern calls for multiple needle sizes (3.5 and 5), so I\'m not sure if I should be swapping the 3.5mm for the 8mm or the 5mm for the 8mm? Can you please help?

Bonjour Mme Jacquesson, pas systématiquement, mais les aiguilles circulaires sont effectivement assez fréquemment utilisées en Europe du Nord/Scandinavie, cette leçon pourra toutefois vous aider si besoin pour adapter un modèle sur aiguilles droites quand nécessaire. Mais parfois, il sera plus simple de tricoter en rond, n'hésitez pas à essayer, nombreuses sont celles qui les ont finalement domptées. Bon tricot!

J’ai essayé avec des aiguilles plus grosses et j’ai le même résultat. Pour l’échantillon en jersey avec les aiguilles 5mm 17 mailles c’est parfait. Auriez-vous un conseil pour moi? Dear Clara, you will have to work more rows to get the finished measurements, for some patterns (raglan/round yokes) you might have to adjust by working more rounds on yoke to get the finished measurements. You will need also more yarn, make sure to get enough. Happy knitting!

Bovenaan bij de materialenlijst staat per maat aangegeven hoeveel gram je nodig hebt. (Het eerste getal geldt voor maat S, het tweede getal voor maat M, enzovoort). 1 bol weegt meestal 50 gram, maar let erop dat dit per garensoort verschillend kan zijn. Dus als er bijvoorbeeld 400 gram staat dan zou je 8 bollen nodig hebben als 1 bol 50 gram weegt.

Hola Karen, en DROPS no tenemos agujas más pequeñas pero deberías poder encontrar agujas de 1.5mm que podrían servirte en este caso. ¿Has trabajado la muestra en redondo? Este patrón se trabaja en redondo y, normalmente, la muestra de ida y vuelta queda más floja (por el giro al lado revés) que la muestra en redondo. Por lo que a lo mejor puedes trabajar con una aguja de 2.5mm de esta manera. Los puntos de montaje pueden ser iguales en diferentes tallas, porque la circunferencia de la cabeza no varía tanto entre tamaños; más tarde los números de puntos variarán más cuando comiences a hacer aumentos para el canesú por ejemplo.

Dear Juliet, rule of three is a type of mathematical calculation for guessing one value from others. Here is an example in this lesson: If 10 cm in width = 20 stitches in width, how many stitches are there in 1cm in width? 1 cm in width has (20stitches/10cm) = 2 stitches. This is more easily calculated when you write them out in a piece of paper. You can look for "rule of three mathematics" and it should show you other examples. Happy knitting!

Dear Juliet, each person has a different personal gauge; you may work tighter than our designers, so your gauge will always be slightly tighter than the one indicated in the pattern and you will need larger needles each time. If you get the correct tension with larger needles, these shouldn't make the knitting too loose, because it should be the same tension as in the swatch. You can also work a larger size jumper if you calculate which one you can do with your gauge, using a rule of three. Happy knitting!

Dear Kristine, which pattern are you working? 10x10 cm means that you should make a square that measures 10cm in height and width. With the numbers that you mention, it should be 21 stitches x 40 rows = 10x10cm. This means that, before starting the piece, you work a swatch that has 21 stitches and work 40 rows with 21 stitches (in stocking stitch or as specificied in the gauge) and it should measure 10x10cm. If it doesn't measure 10cm in width and height, then you change needle size, as specified in this lesson. Happy knitting!

Hola Victoria, qué patrón estás trabajando? Normalmente, lo más importante es que el número de puntos en 10 cm (el ancho) sea correcto, el número de filas se puede ajustar a medida que trabajas. Pero depende del patrón utilizado. Si nos indicas el patrón que estás trabajando y tu tensión completa (cuántos puntos en 10 cm) podremos ayudarte más.
