How to make a Russian join

In this DROPS video we show how to make a Russian join.

This makes a strong and invisible join and is the perfect option for any kind of fiber where felting is not an option, i.e. cotton, acrylic, etc. Make sure to sew in the middle of the strand.

How to join new yarn with a double knot

There are many ways to join a new ball of yarn when you run out of yarn. In this DROPS video we show how to make a more or less invisible join by making a double knot. We use two different colors to make it easier to follow. With the new yarn go under the working yarn, go over both strands and through the loop and tighten. Then repeat by taking the working yarn under the new yarn, over both strands, through loop and tighten. Then pull each yarn to tighten the double knot in the center, pull tight to secure. Cut both tails as close as possible. Keep working on your project.

How to switch yarn ball

In this DROPS video we show one way of switching yarn balls. This technique is useful when switching from one ball to next when knitting with eg DROPS Polaris or Snow. Split the old strand in two on the last 15 cm / 6'' – cut off one part, do the same on the new strand. Place the first and last 15 cm / 6'' on top of each other so that the yarn is the normal thickness and continue to work – this is done to make the switch invisible and no ends to weave in. How to join new yarn (felted)

In this DROPS video we show how to join a new yarn by felting the strands. Make a felted and strong join, when joining a same color wool yarn. There will be no loose ends to seem away when you are done. Moist the palms of your hands, rub the loose ends between your hands with pressure, and they will felt together. In this DROPS video we show how you can weave in ends on your work. When knitting with multiple colors or when just changing from one to another color, you can weave in the end as you continue with the new color. When you start the new color you want to make sure to twist the loose end around your previous color to avoid a hole, then place the working yarn behind the tail, and pick up the yarn alternating above and under the tail end to weave it in. Weave for about 4-6 sts and then you can cut the remaining tail. This way you don't have to fasten the threads at the end. You must read the pattern to be able to follow.
