How to knit the hood in DROPS 156-1

In this DROPS video we show how to knit the hood on the popular Snow Princess jacket in DROPS 156-1.

We knit size S. We have already cast on 116 sts (incl 2 edge sts in GARTER ST (= K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K), in each side of piece) and work 1 ridge in garter st. Then work BAMBOO PATTERN back and forth (=Row 1 (= RS): * 1 YO, K 2, pass YO over 2 K sts *, repeat from *-*. Row 2 (= WS): P all sts.
Repeat rows 1 and 2), with 2 edge sts in garter st in each side (continue the 2 edge sts in garter st in each side until finished measurements).
When piece measures 38 cm (our swatch measures 22 cm), work as follows from RS: Pattern as before over the first 30 sts, garter st over the next 56 sts AT THE SAME TIME dec 12 sts evenly, pattern over the remaining 30 sts = 104 sts. Continue back and forth until 3 ridges have been worked over the middle sts, AT THE SAME TIME on 2nd row from RS inc 4 sts evenly over sts in garter st, and on 3rd row from RS inc 4 sts evenly over sts in garter st = 112 sts.

Now work an elevation in back of neck in garter st as follows from RS: Work until 30 sts remain, turn, work until 30 sts remain, turn, work until 40 sts remain, turn, work until 40 sts remain, turn, work until 50 sts remain, turn, work until 50 sts remain, turn, work until 55 sts remain, turn, work until 55 sts remain, turn and work the rest of row (pattern over the last 30 sts).

This jacket is made in DROPS Nepal, but in the video we knit with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow.

I have read and reread the pattern, unfortunately patterns are new for me. I'm self taught from videos, but I know how to read patterns. I'm Workin on the hood and I'm confused about how to increase 4 after the the row of decreasing 12. I've watershed the video many many times, it is just a little fast. Is there a video with audio or a slower video I could watch?

In this DROPS video, we demonstrate how to knit up stitches around an armhole for a split-sleeve. We begin by showing you how to use a crochet hook to knit up stitches and transfer them onto a knitting needle. Then, we continue by showing you how to work with the stitches using knitting needles. Start at the bottom of the armhole (not directly under the sleeve) and knit up the number of stitches specified in your pattern, going as far as the other side of the armhole. Knit up the stitches within one stitch, which is often a garter stitch. Turn and work back, continuing back and forth to the measurement specified in your pattern, or use short rows for a better fit. Once completed, the sleeve is joined and worked in the round. Refer to your pattern for details on measurements, decreases, and the ribbed cuff. In this video, we demonstrate only 6–7 cm of the sleeve. Finally, sew together the hole under the sleeve. To make the seam and sewing easier to see, we use a contrasting color in the video. In this DROPS video we show a bit of how the sleeve to the Sand Diamond Cardigan is worked. We also show how to sew the front band stitches to along the neckline. We use the stitch numbers for size M. Read in the pattern how many stitches to knit up under the sleeve, where and how often to decreases, change needle size and the length of the rib. Sew in the buttons. Sew the bands together mid-back, then sew the bands to the neckline, stretching the bands a little to sew it on. In this DROPS video we show a bit of how the Sand Diamond Cardigan is worked. We use the stitch numbers for size M. We have already worked the bands with an I-cord edge, some of chart A.1, A.2, A.3 and A.4 (see video Part 1) and worked YOKE until the part divide for body and sleeves. (see video Part 2). We start the video by working the row where we divide the bodies and sleeves (from right side). Read under DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES – ALL SIZES in the pattern. In size M there should then be 235 stitches for the body and 56 stitches for each sleeve. Then it is working from wrong side and work 2nd row in the charts as follows: Work 7 band stitches as before, A.6, A.3 until there are 12 stitches left, A.5 and 7 band stitches as before. * Work 7 band stitches as before, A.5, A.3 until there are 13 stitches left, A.6 and 7 band stitches as before. Work the diagrams 1 time in height. Continue with 7 band stitches as before, A.7, A.3 until there are 18 stitches left, A.8 and 7 band stitches as before. Work the diagrams 1 time in height *. Work from *-* until the body have the specified length (18 cm in size M), finishing after a complete repeat of A.3 in height. Remember the buttonholes. In this DROPS video we show a bit of how the Sand Diamond Cardigan is worked. We use the stitch numbers for size M. We have already worked the bands with an I-cord edge, worked 24 rows of chart A.1 and worked charts A.2, A.3 and A.4 two times in height (see video Part 1). When A.2, A.3 and A.4 have been worked two time in height, you will work 2 more repeat of A.3 between A.2 and A.4 (= 4 reports of A.3). When A.1 has been worked 1 time in height, the increases towards mid-front are finished, and except size S, continue increasing for raglan in each transition between body and sleeves. Read under the PATTERN and under the size you knit how to work the next row (we use stitch markers between the charts to get a better overview). Remember BUTTONHOLES. When A.2, A.3 and A.4 have been worked 1 more time in height, all the increases are finished and there are now 317 stitches on the needle and the work measures approx. 27 cm from the shoulder (size M). In this DROPS video we show how to work simple cables after chart and how we finish with a flounces edge. You can find this cables and flounces edge in the jumper “Pearlescent Top” in DROPS 230-25. We have already worked chart A.2 3 times in height and show in the video how to work it 1 time in height. We show the beginning and end in each round. Then we show how to work after chart A.3, how to increase to the flounces edge. This jumper is worked in DROPS Alpaca and DROPS Kid-Silk, but in the video, we work with DROPS Snow.
