How to close the seam under raglan sleeve (Kitchener sts, grafting, weaving)

In this DROPS video we show two ways of sewing together the hole under sleeves on a jumper/jacket with raglan.

First, we show how to sew together so we get an invisible seam. Remember not to tighten the thread and sew from RS. Stitches should be same size as the knitted stitches. At thicker yarn it avoids that it becomes a thick seam on the back.

Then we show how to sew together by sewing together the seam in the inner loops of edge sts. You get a thicker stitching on the outside, but it will not show up when it comes under arm.

It is unfortunate the watermark covers the first stitch. Maybe you could check this in the future and move the watermark to the top of the video when everything happens in the bottom of the screen.

Buongiorno Rosita. Generalmente quando si lavora dall'alto verso il basso e si riportano le maglie della manica sui ferri di lavoro, vengono avviate nuove maglie sotto la manica (quelle che poi verrano cucite come nel video) e vengono lavorate. Faccia sempre riferimento alle spiegazioni del modello scelto. Buon lavoro!

Dear Mrs Carter, if you leave sts for armhole on body and on sleeve on a thread, you can then sew them tog with kitchener sts (see here. Happy knitting!

Bonjour Irène, si vous avez bien vérifié vos réglages, paramètres, et mises à jour, il peut s'agir d'un bug passager de vimeo. Un nettoyage de votre cache peut parfois également aider. Bon tricot!

Bonjour Jeanne et merci, pour mieux voir la vidéo, vous pouvez cliquer sur les flèches et afficher ainsi la vidéo en plein écran - on voit ainsi beaucoup mieux, et n'hésitez pas à cliquez sur le bouton "pause" autant de fois que nécessaire le temps de bien comprendre et de reproduire le mouvement. In this DROPS video we show how to work a central double decrease, like the one we see in the raglan line to the «Clear Winter Sky» jumper in DROPS 236-24. Work until there is 1 stitch left before marker-stitch, slip 2 stitches as if to knit together, knit 1, pass the slipped stitches over the knitted stitch. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. In this DROPS video we show how we increase to raglan and at the same time work short rows. Put 4 markers as explained in the in the pattern you are knitting after and cut the thread. Now you start working front left of neck when garment is worn. Start from the right side, 2 stitches before marker-stitch-3 and work after pattern (stocking stitch / after charts) and increase to raglan before and after the 4 markers until you have worked to 2 stitches past marker-stitch-2 (8 stitches increased for raglan). Turn, tighten the strand and work back from the wrong side to 2 stitches past where the short rows began by marker-3. Continue with short rows as it says in the pattern and when the short rows are finish, cut the thread and now it starts mid-back again. Work the yarn overs / the increases as it says in the pattern, and remember that the yarn overs / increases are worked differently, before/after the marker and from the right side/from wrong side We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.
