In this DROPS video we show how to put a sleeve that is knitted in the round on a round needle together with a front and back piece.

Put sleeve sts (which has been knitted in the round on needle) on the same circular needle as front and back piece. When you knit on a circular needle and should knit raglan or round yoke, start to knit front and back until armholes. On next round bind off 4 sts for armhole each side (or number of sts told in pattern). Now work the sleeves, bind off 4 sts for armhole (or number of sts told in pattern) for sleeve cap. Then put sleeve sts on the same circular needle where sts where bound off for armhole each side.

In the video we show a front and back piece where we have bound off for arm hole at the side, and then how to work the sleeve sts on to the same circular needle. The sleeve has been worked in the round on a circular needle or double pointed needles.

Bonjour Mme Bretzel, cette technique est utilisée lorsque l'on tricote un pull (ou un gilet) de bas en haut, avec un empiècement arrondi ou des emmanchures raglan, car on va diminuer en même temps pour arriver au nombre de mailles de l'encolure. Bon tricot!

Mais lorsqu'on l'applique à une"vraie manche", on doit insérer beaucoup plus de mailles que celles rabattues, ex: j'avais dû rabattre 4 à 5 m. et j'ai dû placer une cinquantaine de m pour un pull enfant. Alors, j'ai tiré, cela a fonctionné le fil n'a pas cassé mais est-ce la bonne façon de faire ou n'ai-je pas compris quelque chose. J'ai eu le même problème avec des manches tricotées en aller-retour. Bonjour Françoise, quand on tricote les premiers rangs / tours de l'empiècement, c'est parfois un peu serré, vous pouvez vous aider d'une autre aiguille circulaire pour ces premiers rangs et ensuite continuer avec toutes les mailles sur la même aiguille. Bon tricot!

Dear Mrs Lev, when working the first row/rounds of yoke, you can use another circular needles for the sleeve, after some rows, you can then continue with all sts on the same circular needle. Happy knitting!

Dear Mrs McBride, you usually bind off sts for armhole from RS, and slip the sleeves from RS tog on same circular needdle as body. But you will have to read your pattern to check if there is any informations to bind off/slip from WS, otherwise, just do this from RS. Happy knitting!

In this DROPS video we show a brief overview of how to knit a garment with an European yoke, where the neck is finished after the stitches for the sleeves are knitted up. The garment is worked as follows, according to these 5 steps: 1) BACK PIECE: Cast on stitches for the back of the neckline and work the back piece top down, at the same time as increasing each side until you have reached the correct shoulder-width. The back piece has slightly diagonal shoulders. 2) FRONT PIECE: The front piece is worked in 2 pieces (each side of the neck). Start by knitting up stitches along one shoulder on the back piece. Work the front piece top down, at the same time as increasing for the neckline. Repeat for the second front piece along the other back shoulder. 3) YOKE: On the next row, place all stitches on the same circular needle as follows: Work across one front piece, pick up stitches for the sleeve along the side of the front piece, work across the back piece, pick up stitches for the sleeve along the side of the second front piece, work across the second front piece. The yoke is continued back and forth across all stitches, with the rows starting and ending mid-front. 4) INCREASE FOR NECK, BODY AND SLEEVES: While working the yoke, begin by increasing only for the neckline and sleeves, then subsequently for both the body and sleeves. Once the final increase for the neckline is done, the 2 front pieces are joined mid-front and the piece is continued in the round. 5) BODY AND SLEEVES: When all the increases are finished and the yoke has been worked to the correct length, it is divided for the body and sleeves. The body is continued in the round with a circular needle, top down, while the sleeves wait.

When all the increases are finished and the yoke is the correct length, it is divided for the body and sleeves. The body is continued in the round with circular needle, top down, while the sleeves wait. Work as follows: ROUND 1: Knit all stitches (we only show the beginning and end of this round). ROUND 2: Knit until there are 2 stitches left before the first marker, increase towards the right, knit 2, move the marker onto the right needle, increase towards the left, knit across the sleeve-stitches, increase towards the right, move the marker onto the right needle, knit 2, increase towards the left, knit until there are 2 stitches left before the next marker, increase towards the right, knit 2, move the marker onto the right needle, increase towards the left, knit across the sleeve-stitches, increase towards the right, move the marker onto the right needle, knit 2, increase towards the left, knit to end of round (= 1 stitch increased on each side of 2 stitches in each transition between body and sleeves = a total of 8 increased stitches). Repeat these 2 rounds the stated number of times in your pattern. The piece now measures X cm measured down the middle of the sleeve, from where stitches were knitted up, when the jumper is folded double at the shoulder. The piece measures X cm outermost along the armhole. Work to the first marker (= transition between front piece and left shoulder). Now divide the yoke for the body and sleeves, casting on stitches under both sleeves. Follow your pattern for how many stitches are placed on a thread, how many stitches are cast on and how you continue the body. INCREASE TIP-1: INCREASE 1 STITCH TOWARDS THE LEFT – from right side: Use the left needle to pick up the front strand between 2 stitches from the previous row, knit through the back loop. How to knit up stitches for the neck to a jumper with European shoulder

In this DROPS video we show how to knit up stitches around the neck to a jumper with a European shoulder, using a knitting needle or a crochet hook. Then follow the description in the pattern. There are many different ways to work a rib (e.g knit 1 / purl 1, knit 2 / purl 2, knit 1 twisted / 1 purl etc.). And you can work a single neck, double neck or a high neck. In this video we work a double neck with a rib worked like this: knit 2, purl 2, cast off with knit over knit and purl over purl and then fold the neck double to the inside and fasten down. In this video we work with 2 yarn qualities: DROPS Lima colour no. 9029 sage green and DROPS Kid-Silk colour no. 45 soft mint, needle size 5 mm.
