How to make a door wreath made of pompoms

In this DROPS video we show how to make the door wreath made of pompoms for Christmas in DROPS Extra 0-1416.

In this video we use a steel hanger instead of a steel wire and we have already made 3 pompoms, 1 in DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk, 1 in DROPS Nepal and 1 in DROPS Snow.

How to make a pompom

In this DROPS video we show how you can make a pompom. Cut out 2 circular cardboard pieces with the desired diameter. Cut a big hole in the middle. Place the 2 pieces against each other and wind the yarn round. The more yarn, the denser the pompon. Cut the threads between the 2 pieces, be careful not to pull out the threads! Use a thread to tighten round the middle of the threads between the 2 pieces. Pull tight and tie hard. If the pompon is a little uneven, adjust the lengths of the yarn ends. How to crochet fringes

In this DROPS video we show how to crochet fringes. We have already crocheted some fringes. Pull out a loop with the crochet hook to the desired length, twist the thread (the more times the thread is twisted, the tighter the fringe become), fold the thread double and it will twist together. Work a double crochet in the next stitch. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.

You can make pompoms in many different sizes. In this DROPS video we have made a large and medium compact (blue), a small and compact(green) and big and fluffy pompom (pink). Pompon can be used in very much things, on hats, on slippers, scarfs and various accessories etc. Let your imagination go wild! The yarn inside a yarnball may be curly. In this DROPS video we show a simple way to correct / smooth out the yarn. Make the tassel and put it in water and then squeeze the water out. Shake then very hard (much harder than we show in the video). When dry and after the tassels are much more smoothed out, give the tassel one last cut. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. You can attach a pompom in different ways. In this DROPS video we show how to attach first on the right side and then on the wrong side of a hat. Make sure the thread is tied tight around the center of the pompom. If the thread is tied too loose the strands in the pompom will easily slip out. You must read the pattern to be able to follow.
