ACCESSORIES FOR THE PIECE:

KNITTING TENSION:
18 stitches in width and 35 rows in height with fisherman’s rib = 10 x 10 cm.

NEEDLES:
DROPS NEEDLES SIZE 4.5 MM.
The needle size is only a guide. If you have too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you have too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN:

RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth):
1 ridge = Knit 2 rows.

FISHERMAN’S RIB (back and forth on needle including 2 stitches in garter stitch in each side): 
ROW 1: 2 stitches in GARTER STITCH - read description above, * knit 1, 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to purl*, work from *-* until there are 3 stitches left and finish with knit 1 and 2 stitches in garter stitch.
ROW 2: 2 stitches in garter stitch, * 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, knit yarn over and slipped stitch together *, work from *-* until there are 3 stitches left, finish with 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to purl and 2 stitches in garter stitch.
ROW 3: 2 stitches in garter stitch, * knit yarn over and slipped stitch together, 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to purl*, work from *-* until there are 4 stitches left (including the yarn over), knit yarn over and slipped stitch together and work 2 stitches in garter stitch.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 onwards.

START THE PIECE HERE:

HEAD BAND - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
The piece is worked back and forth, sideways. The head band is sewn together mid back to finish.

HEAD BAND:
Cast on 27-31 stitches with needle size 4.5 mm and Merino Extra Fine. Work FISHERMAN’S RIB – see description above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION! Continue working until the piece measures approx. 49-53 cm – adjust to after a row 2 in fisherman’s rib. The next row is worked as follows: 2 stitches in garter stitch, * knit together yarn over and slipped stitch, knit 1 *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left, work 2 stitches in garter stitch. Cast off loosely.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew the cast-on edge and cast-off edge together with grafting stitches.
