GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

PICOT EDGE (back and forth on needle):
ROW 1 (= RS): K all sts.
ROW 2 (= WS): K all sts.
ROW 3 (= RS): K until 4 sts remain, work these sts as follows: K 2 tog, 1 YO, K 2 sts in each of the last 2 sts = 2 new sts on row.
ROW 4 (= WS): Slip 1st st as if to K, K 1, psso, K 1 and slip the last st on right needle over the foremost st, 2 sts dec - then K the remaining sts. Repeat rows 1 to 4.
----------------------------------------------------------

SLIPPER:
Worked back and forth on needle.

FOLDING EDGE:
Cast on 14-14-16-16-18-18 sts on circular needle size 5 mm with Eskimo. Insert 1 marker inside the last 4 sts on row in left side of piece (seen from RS). Work in GARTER ST - see explanation above, AT THE SAME TIME work PICOT EDGE over the last 4 sts - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION Continue until 28-32-34-38-42-44 ridges have been worked in total (i.e. 56-64-68-76-84-88 rows, piece measures approx. 17-19-21-23-25-27) cm, cast off.

FOOT:
Pick up 1 st in every ridge along the long side without picot edge = 28-32-34-38-42-44 sts. Work in garter st for 2 cm, last row = from WS.
Work the first 8-10-11-12-14-15 sts in garter st and slip them on a stitch holder, inc 1 st, work the next 12-12-12-14-14-14 sts in garter st, inc 1 st, work the last 8-10-11-12-14-15 sts and slip them on a stitch holder. Continue in garter st over the remaining 14-14-14-16-16-16 sts. When middle piece measures 4-4-5-6-6-7 cm, dec 1 edge st in each side from WS = 12-12-12-14-14-14 sts, slip sts on 1 stitch holder. Cut the yarn. Work next row as follows (= RS): Work sts from stitch holders AT THE SAME TIME pick up 7-7-9-10-10-12 sts on each side of middle piece inside 1 edge st = 42-46-52-58-62-68 sts. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! Continue back and forth in garter st. Insert 1 marker mid front on toe. When piece measures 2 cm, K 2 sts tog on each side of marker and K 2 tog inside 1 edge st in each side, repeat dec every other row (= 4 sts dec in total every other row). Continue dec until piece measures 3-3-4-4-5-5 cm, cast off. Sew seams under foot in outer loops of edge sts to avoid a chunky seam.

Knit another slipper the same way.

Bon tricot!

Kris 27.04.2017 - 03:45:

SO CONFUSED... There has GOT to be some steps missing here! After the stiches are separated onto two stitch holders and the needles, which section am I knitting? And even after I do get that far, I don't get it. I'm a very experienced knitter. This pattern is just confusing!

DROPS Design 27.04.2017 kl. 09:42:

Dear Kris, when working over the 12-14 mid sts, you are working top of foot, then you will knit back the first sts on thread, pick up sts along top of foot, work sts on top of foot, pick up sts along other side of top of foot and knit the sts from 2nd thread and work then to mid under foot. This video shows how to work the foot of a similar slipper pattern (remember to follow number of sts/pattern on the correct pattern). Happy knitting!
