Buon lavoro!

Question: After R6m the row with the increases is worked, and then the next row is k2, p across to last 2 st, k2. Continue these two rows until ready to work pattern, correct? Then when you begin working in the pattern after 40cm of stockinette... RS row is worked in the pattern, WS is still k2, purl across to last 2, k2 is that correct? Or is the pattern worked on BOTH sides at this point? Thank you very much in advance!

Dear Christine, after you have worked row 6, continue in pattern as before (= stocking stitch with 2 sts in garter st on each side) while increasing 4 sts every row from RS until piece measures 40 cm (from the cast on edge along the middle stitch). Then continue from RS working diagram (= row 1 in M.1A/B is worked from RS - from WS all sts in diagrams are purled) - continue the 2 edge sts in garter st on each side. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot !

There is M.1A and M.1B for the pattern but for the colors we use a multicolored yarn.

Lovely pattern, but I don't see any chart for the pattern itself. I guess I'll make my own.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. PATTERN: See diagrams M.1A and M.1B. The diagrams show the pattern from RS. KNITTING TIP: The shawl can be knitted larger by working more cm in stocking st and then more cm in pattern if desired. Proportion on picture is approx. 2/3 stocking st to 1/3 pattern. CAST OFF WITH YO: * Cast off 3 sts, make 1 YO on right needle, cast off YO *, repeat from *-* the entire row. --------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: Worked back and forth on circular needle, work from mid back of neck and down. Cast on 3 sts on circular needle size 7 mm with Verdi. Work as follows: Row 1 (= RS): K 2 sts in 1st and 2nd st, and K 1 st in 3rd st = 5 sts. Row 2 (= WS): K all sts. Row 3: K 1, K 2 sts in next st, K 1 – insert a marker in this st (= mid st), K 2 sts in next st, K 1 = 7 sts. Row 4: K all sts. Row 5: 2 sts in GARTER ST (edge st) - see explanation above - 3 sts in stocking st (i.e. K), 2 sts in garter st (edge st). Row 6: 2 sts in garter st, 3 sts in stocking st (i.e. P), 2 sts in garter st. Now continue with 2 sts in garter st in each side and work in stocking st over the other sts. AT THE SAME TIME on every row from RS, inc 4 sts as follows: Work 2 edge sts in garter st, 1 YO, work in stocking st until mid st, 1 YO before mid st, work mid st, 1 YO, work in stocking st until 2 edge sts remain, 1 YO, 2 edge sts in garter st. Read KNITTING TIP above. When piece measures approx. 40 cm on the mid (adjust so that next row is worked from RS), work 2 edge sts in garter st, 1 YO, diagram M.1A until 1 st remains before mid st, K1, 1 YO, mid st, 1 YO, K1, diagram M.1B until 2 sts remain, 1 YO, 2 edge sts in garter st. Continue like this with pattern and inc, work inc sts in pattern. When piece measures approx. 63 cm on the middle, work in garter st over all sts for 2 cm. Cast off with YOs - see explanation above. |
