How to knit Portuguese knitting

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit in the Portuguese style.

Portuguese knitting is especially a good choice for people with joint pains and arthritis because of the little movement needed to form the stitches. And it's supposed to be a great way for blind or visually impaired to knit because the working yarn stays put and you can always find it easily.

The holding of the needles are the same, but you tension the yarn around your neck or a knitting pin on your left shoulder with your working yarn coming from the left hand needle. On your right hand you hold the thread around your middle finger.

We start the video with:
Row 1 (RS): Knit stitch
Row 2 (WS): Purl stitch
We repeat row 1-2

Heb de video bekeken en ben er mee aan de slag gegaan. Het werkt heerlijk, vooral het averecht breien is veel makkelijker dan welke manier dan ook. Alleen heb ik een probleempje met breien met een omslag (ajour werk). Hoe kan ik een goede omslag maken waarmee ik verder kan?

In this DROPS video we show how to work 2 I-cord edge stitches in each side, and at the same time increase in one of the sides. The same 2 edge stitches can be used in garments without increases. For example edges to a jacket. EDGE STITCHES: At the beginning of each row work 2 edge stitches as follows: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. At the end of each row work 2 edge stitches as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left on the row, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. In this DROPS video we show how to work a rib with knit 1, purl 1 on circular needle. Working a rib gives an elastic piece that is great for cuffs and edges. Cast on a number of stitches that is divisible by 2, then put the circular needle “together” and start with knit 1 (the first stitch that was cast on), purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, etc. the entire round (you can also start with purl 1, knit 1, etc.).
