It's easy to replace a yarn!
Here is a sample that shows how it looks when you replace 1 strand of DROPS Nepal with 1 strand of DROPS Air.
When you choose DROPS Air as a replacement, you are choosing a yarn that is so light and airy that your project will weight nearly half as much as if you make it with DROPS Nepal - which also means you will need less yarn to make it!
Find the pattern for the blanket in the example here!
Find patterns where you can use this alternative!
See how easy you can calculate the amount of yarn needed when substituting a yarn.

Hi. What yarn can you recommend to use with Air to make up a chunky (group D) yarn? I would like to keep the lightweight feel to the finished garment. Thanks!

Dear Ana, you can try working DROPS Air with 1 thread of a group A yarn, such as DROPS Kid-Silk, which won't add weight to the garment. Happy knitting!

I am knitting animals and I have a bunch of Drops Air. My pattern calls for Drops Nepal. May I use the Air I have as a replacement?
27.04.2024 - 20:26DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mimi, as you can see in this lesson you can replace them but Air is much softer so, for example, if you are making animals the resulting toy may be too soft and the shape will not hold as well as with Nepal. Air is more recommended for less rigid pieces, such as blankets. Happy knitting!

Hello, can I replace Drops Nepal (17stx22rowns), knitted with 4.5 mm and 5mm with Drops Air (16stx20), knitted with 5mm and 5.5mm needles (as the pattern gives)? Or do I need to use the same tension as with the Nepal? Thank you.
22.01.2024 - 12:23DROPS Design answered:
Dear Lise, when changing the thread you need to ensure that your working gauge with DROPS Air is the one stated in the pattern; regardless of the gauge indicated in the yarn label. For example, you use the needles indicated in the pattern for the swatch in Nepal, but using Air instead. The gauge needs to be the same as stated for the pattern to work; otherwise you will need to either switch needle size or recalculate the pattern. Happy knitting!

Hi, The yarn I’m after is out of stock at the moment, it’s the drops air. Can I please be informed as to what “Stock Week” means. I see it written on yarn pages here at Garnstudio website. For example, I see the sentence “expected back by Stock Week 11”. What does that mean? And if I see it again, how can I calculate it myself? Thanks
08.03.2022 - 13:16DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mona, Stock week refers to the week of the year. For example, week from 7.03 to 13.03 would be week 10, so the yarn should be back next week. You can check which week of the year we are in by looking it up online:" week of year 2022".

šály a návleky. Je možné ji využít i na plstěné výrobky, např. hřejivé papučky. Hodně radosti z pletení - nejen s Nepalem! Hana
