How to crochet a 17th of May flower
In this DROPS video we show how to crochet a beautiful flower that can be used to decorate on May 17th (Norway's National Day). Use to decorate your clothes, hair, table decorations and so much more.
Work 6 ch with Colour I and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch.
ROUND 1: work 1 ch, 15 dc around the ring and - READ COLOUR CHANGE below - finish with 1 sl st in first ch with Color II.
ROUND 2: 3 ch, * 3 ch, skip 1 dc, 1 tr in next dc *, repeat from * - * the entire round and finish with 3 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch in beg of round = 8 ch -loops.
ROUND 3: Turn piece, * 4 ch, 1 dc in next tr, turn the work, 2 ch, 6 tr around ch-loop, 5 tr around the tr from 2nd round. Lean piece to the right and work 1 sl st in tr from 2nd round * = one petal finished. Turn piece and repeat * - * until there are 8 flower petals. Cut the thread.
ROUND 4: Use Color III, fasten with 1 dc in one of the ch-loop from 2nd round. Work 1 dc around the same ch-loop, 5 ch, * 1 dc around next ch-loop, 5 ch * repeat *-* the entire round and finish with 1 sl st in 2nd dc on round. = 8 ch-loops, turn the piece.
ROUND 5: Work as follows in each ch-loop: * 1 dc, 3 ch, 7 dtr, 3 ch and 1 dc *. Repeat from *-* the entire round and finish with 1 sl st in 1st dc in beg of round.
COLOUR CHANGE:
To get a nice transition between the colour changes, work last sl st on round with the new colour as follows: Insert hook in last ch from beg of round, get the new yarn, make a YO with the new colour and pull it through st on hook.
