How to knit double loop knitting
Keywords: smyčka,
In this DROPS video we show how you can knit double loop knitting.
Use this fun technique to make a loop scarf, loop cuffs, loop collar or why not a loopy bag?
Double loops knitted back and forth on needles:
The loops are made on the WS rows of the piece and ends up on the RS.
1st row (RS): Knit all sts
2nd row (WS): K1, * make a double loop as follows: Twist the yarn over and around the left second and third finger 3 times. Knit the next st by pulling all 3 threads on the left index finger through the st. Slip the loops off the finger – but the stitch are still on the left needle, leave the main thread over the left index finger at the same time as 2 loops are held closely into the piece with the right hand finger.
K 1 st in the back of the same st (= 1 twisted st). There are now 3 loop sts + 1 twisted st on the right needle. Lift the 3 back sts over the first st = 1 loop st, K 1 *, repeat from *-*.
Repeat these 2 rows, making the loops in alternating stitches on the WS rows.
You must read the pattern to be able to follow. You’ll find patterns where this technique is used by clicking on the pictures below.

Hej!

Hi, This is a wonderful idea for a pair of gloves I want to make for my niece. Will it be stretchy enough for glove cuff and will I need to add extra stitches to the a pre-existing pattern to allow for the addition ofthe loops? Thanks again for this video tutorial. I had a hard time with just the written instructions.
