I knit holding the yarn in the right hand as shown but this video does make it look very awkward and slow. I was taught to hold the right hand needle under my arm with the yarn tensioned by wrapping around the little finger, under the middle two and over the first finger. This way it is possible to knit very quickly.

I am 71 years old and learned knitting from my grandma this way. I have always wondered why everybody in germany holds the yarn with the left hand and I had it on my right hand. I never managed to change that. And of course I am much slower that everybody else.....:-)

Je me suis toujours demandée comment faisait ma mère pour tenir son tricot tout le temps, ben maintenant je le sais elle tricote à la méthode continentale et moi celle-ci ce qui fait que je lache mon aiguille pour passer mon fil :/ hi hi .Mais je ne cale pas mon aiguille sous le bras .Maintenant que je sais qu'il y une autre façon de tenir son fil ,je vais essayer . Comme quoi on apprend tous les jours . Bon tricot :)
