How to knit a small simple cable without using a cable needle (mok cable)

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit a small simple cable/lace pattern without using a cable needle (mok cable).

The pattern is knitted over 2 and 3 stitches in the width and 1 repeat in hight is 4 rows. In this video we purl around the pattern with 1 edge st at each side. The number of p st and placement of the pattern can vary in each pattern:

Row 1 (RS): 1 edge st, p3, k1, yo, k1, p3, 1 edge st
Row 2 (WS): 1 edge st, k3, p3 (p the yo between the 2 st), k3 and 1 edge st
Row 3: 1 edge st, p3, K3, pass first st worked over the other 2 so that this st is around the last 2 sts on right needle (= 1 st dec), p3 and 1 edge st
Row 4: 1 edge st, k3, p2, k3 and 1 edge st
Repeat rows 1-4.

You must read the pattern and look at the chart to be able to follow. You’ll find patterns with this technique by clicking on the pictures below.
