In this DROPS video we show you how to cast off with rib, knit 1 and purl 1, using the UK / US knitting style. This method is often described as “cast off with knit above knit and purl above purl”, whether it is knit 1 and purl 1, knit 2 and purl 2, or any other type of rib / ribbing.
The cast-off edge will be elastic.
BEFORE STARTING THE VIDEO:
We have already worked a few cms of the rib, knit 1 and purl 1, and cast off a few stitches with rib.
To cast off with rib – or cast off with knit above knit and purl above purl – means that, before casting off, the stitch is worked in the same way as on the round/row below.
THE VIDEO SHOWS:
The knitted stitches are knitted and the purled stitches are purled, at the same time as casting off by passing the next-to-last stitch worked over the last stitch worked (on the right needle).
