Clue #5 - And now the party starts!

Are you ready for clue #5? This time we will work 12 new rows and add some more of the wonderful colours!

As usual, you will find videos to assist you at the end of the clue. But if you still have questions, you can always leave them using the form at the bottom of the page!

First a little information

PATTERN:
In clue #5 we will crochet using diagram A.5a and A.5b. A.5a shows how row begins. NOTE: The beginning of rows is drawn above each other in the same diagram even though they are worked alternately the right and left side of the shawl and not above each other.

STRIPES:
Cut thread after each row, unless the next row has the same colour. Fasten the threads in the side when you have finished.
ROW 21: coral (colour c)
ROW 22: cerise (colour f)
ROW 23: coral (colour c)
ROW 24: powder (colour a)
ROWS 25-27: sea green (colour g)
ROW 28: powder (colour a)
ROW 29: mustard (colour b)
ROW 30: red (colour d)
ROW 31: powder (colour a)
ROW 32: jeans blue (colour i)

COLOUR CHANGE:
When switching colours, work as follows: Work last stitch on row with the first colour, but wait with last yarn over and pull through, switch to next colour and work the last yarn over and pull through on the last stitch with this colour, then work next row.

If you are experienced, follow the brief description and diagrams A.5a and A.5b which you will find under. If you need more help to get started continue to read the clue below.

Brief version

Continue working stripes using diagram A.5b (A.5a shows how every row begins and are worked in addition to the stitches in A.5b).

Diagram for Clue #5

= From right side: 1 treble crochet into back loop of stitch. From wrong side: 1 treble crochet into front loop of stitch
= Work a bobble around the chain stitch space as follows: work 1 treble crochet, but wait with the last yarn over and pull through, work 3 double treble crochets around the same chain stitch space, but wait with the last yarn over and pull through on each double treble crochet, work 1 treble crochet around the same chain stitch space, but when working the last pull through, pull the thread through all loops on hook.
= Work 3 chain stitches on beginning of row
= Work 1 chain stitch on beginning of row
= increase (with the same stitch shown in the chart) on each side of the marking threads on row with arrow
= begin diagram here

Need help to get started?

Here’s a more detailed description of how to start with Clue #5. We have marked where we are working in the diagram with red.

Work row 21- 23 with stripes and pattern A.5b (A.5a shows how each row begins and are worked in addition to stitches in A.5b) and use COLOUR CHANGE!

Work rows 24-25 with increases on row 24.
ARROW 7 (= row 24/wrong side): Increase 1 double crochet on each side of the marking threads by working 1 double crochet extra around the chain stitch space (= 24 stitches increased) = 288 double crochets.

Work rows 26-27 with increases on row 26.
ARROW 8 (= row 26/wrong side): Increase 1 double crochet on each side of the marking threads by working 2 double crochets in one stitch (= 24 stitches increased) = 312 double crochets.

Work rows 28-29 with increases on row 28.
ARROW 9 (= row 28/wrong side): Increase 1 treble crochet on each side of the marking threads by working 2 treble crochet in one stitch (= 24 stitches increased) = 336 treble crochets.

Work rows 30-32 with increases on row 30.
ARROW 10 (= row 30/wrong side): Increase 1 treble crochet on each side of the marking threads by working 1 treble crochet extra around the chain stitch space (= 24 stitches increased) = 360 treble crochets.

Finished!

We are now done with 32 rows of this shawl and with clue #5, and the piece measures approx. 50 cm between the first chain stitch space and the middle of the last row worked. The picture below shows how piece has grown with the beautiful colours we have added!

Alvast bedankt....

16.05.2018 - 10:42

DROPS Design answered:
