How to knit A.1 for the top in DROPS 170-4

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit according to chart A.1 for the Butterfly Heart top in DROPS 170-4. In the video we knit size S/M.

This top is knitted in DROPS Belle, but in the video we knit with a thicker yarn, DROPS Snow.

You must read the pattern and look at the chart to be able to follow this video properly. You’ll find this pattern and the matching jumper by clicking on the pictures below.

I don't understand that the Diagram A1 for DROPS 170-3 shows 4 squares but cast on 8 stitches. Also is it possible to get clearer diagrams, when I print out they are very small and not sharp. DROPS Design :

Dear Sue, just follow the video, cast on the 8 stitches and knit 1 row (from 00:35), then increase on next row as explained in the pattern (from 00:53) = 15sts. Work next row (= from 1:20) - then work the 15 sts as explained in pattern and as shown in the video from approx. 1:47. Happy knitting!

At 03:45 she points at a white square which is supposed to be purl. The stitch is not a yo as far as I can see. What type of stitch is she using there? Why is is not a regular purl?

Liebe Sandra, bei der 3. Reihe in A.1 stricken Sie: 1 M re, 1 Umschlag, 1 M lli, 1 M re, 1 M li, 1 Umschlag, 1 M re. Bei der 4. Reihe werden die Umschläge rechts gestrickt (Loch), dh von der Rückreihe (4. Reihe): 1 M li, 2 M re, 1 M li, 2 M re, 1 M li). Viel Spaß beim stricken!

We have already cast on 11 stitches (we use less no of stitches than it says in the pattern) and work 2 rows before we start on the charts. We work chart A.2 and A.4 1 time and A.3 2 times in the width. We work the charts 1 time in height and and when the diagrams are to be repeated in height, we work A.2 and A.4 1 time, while A.3 is now worked 4 times in width.
