How to knit the socks diagonally in DROPS 167-34 - PART 1

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit the Jupiter socks in DROPS 167-34. In the video we show size 35/37, and we have knitted half the amount of ridges than stated in the pattern. When the pattern says knit 6 ridges, we knitted 3 and when the pattern says knit 12 ridges we knitted 6. The result in the video is looking a bit different than the original, but it is the same sock just with fewer ridges.

These slippers are made in DROPS Fabel, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn, DROPS Snow.

In this DROPS video, we show you how to knit a sock with a square heel. The stitches on top of the foot are placed on a thread, while the stitches at the back are kept on the needles and the heel is worked as follows (the heel extends under the foot): 1) The heel is worked back and forth across the heel-stitches to achieve the correct height. For this type of heel, the length reaches midway under the heel. 2) Next, the heel is knitted together beneath the foot. 3) The sock is then continued in the round, with stitches picked up along both sides of the heel length, working towards the toe. 4) This heel creates a square shape, which is why this type of heel is known as a square heel.

In this DROPS video, we show you how to knit a sock with a gusset heel - arguably the most common method for working a heel. To begin, the stitches on top of the foot are placed on a thread, while the stitches at the back are kept on the needles and the heel is worked as follows: 1) The heel is first worked in height, back and forth across the heel-stitches. 2) Next, the bottom of the heel is worked to the required width and length by working short rows and decreasing stitches. 3) Once this step is completed, continue knitting in the round across all stitches, knitting up stitches on both sides of the heel (along the length). 4) The width and shape of the foot is worked by decreasing stitches on both sides, forming a small gusset heel – that is why this type of heel is known as a gusset heel.
