In this DROPS video we show you how to cast off with rib, using the Continental knitting style. This method is often described as “cast off with knit above knit and purl above purl”, whether it is knit 1 and purl 1, knit 2 and purl 2, or any other type of rib / ribbing. The cast-off edge will be elastic.
BEFORE STARTING THE VIDEO:
We have already worked a few cms of rib, knit 2 and purl 2, and cast off a few stitches with rib. To cast off with rib - or cast off with knit above knit and purl above purl - means that, before casting off, the stitch is worked in the same way as on the round/row below.
THE VIDEO SHOWS:
The knitted stitches are knitted and the purled stitches are purled, at the same time as casting off by passing the next-to-last stitch worked over the last stitch worked (on the right needle).
