How to increase with a yarn over (yo)

In this DROPS video we show how you can increase with yarn over (yo) This is an increase that creates a decorative hole.

We show the increase 2 times in the video. Halfway through the video we have turned the work and show you how to work the yo in front or back loop depending if you prefer a larger or smaller hole. When working the back loop the stitch becomes twisted and this way the hole becomes a bit smaller.

You must read the pattern to be able to follow. You’ll find patterns where you can use this technique by clicking on the pictures below.

Liebe Bärbel, es gibt hier 2 verschiedene Umschläge: das 3. Symbol für das Lochmuster und das 4. Symbol für die Zunahmen, die "schwarzen" Umschläge werden verschänkt gestrickt - und die "weissen" werden "normal" gestrickt. Viel Spaß beim stricken!

Dag Kim,

Dit gaat eigenlijk op dezelfde manier, dus terwijl je de steken averecht breit, maak je een omslag tussen 2 steken (zie deze video )Deze omslag brei je op de goede kant recht om een gaatje te krijgen of gedraaid recht (in de achterkant van de steek breien) om een gaatje te voorkomen. Dit is ook allemaal in de video te zien.

Pattern 151-44 work in garter stitch, increasing 1 st on each side of both stitches with markers. As there is only 1 stitch between markers I am unable to increase on one of them, I am not fully understanding & missing something here I know, please help. Many thanks

Dear Mrs North, in this pattern, both markers are in a stitch, so that you have to increase like this: work to the stitch with marker, make a yarn over, work the stitch with marker, make a yarn over, work to next stitch with marker, make a yarn over, work the stitch with yarn over, make a yarn over = you have increased 1 stitch on each side of both stitches with a marker. Buongiorno Maria Carola. Aumenta per il raglan ogni due ferri. Quindi sul ferro in cui il gettato viene lavorato a diritto per lasciare il buco, non deve aumentare per il raglan. Buon lavoro!

HI, Just starting Morning Glory for a friend. Am having problems with the increases on the sleeve to move the cable diagonally. One side the yarn over gives me a hole, on the other side it does not. Please advise the correct method of YO to get matching sides.

Dear Lindsay, make sure your yarn overs are not too loose so that the holes will be almost invisible but you can also try to increase another way if you want. Happy knitting!

Drop children 23-7 J'ai un souci pour les augmentations raglan en point fantaisie. 1 jeté , 2 mailles endroit avec marqueur entre ces 2 mailles mais si on suit l'explication et le nombre de mailles on arrive sur 2 mailles envers. Pas d'explication pour tricot avec aiguilles circulaires . Faut il partir du 1er marqueur de la manche pour compter les rangs et faire le point fantaisie?

Bonjour Simone, quand on tricote A.1 sur l'empiècement, les augmentations du raglan vont se tricoter en A.1 = soit à l'endroit, soit à l'envers en fonction de la maille à tricoter, veillez bien à ce que votre motif soit toujours de 2 m end/2 m env ou 2 m env/2 m end sur les mailles entre les marqueurs (et les 2 m end des raglans). Au tour après l'augmentation, tricotez le jeté torse à l'endroit ou à l'envers pour éviter un trou. Les tours commencent au milieu dos, vous augmentez d'abord à la fin du dos, puis début/fin manche, début/fin devant, début/fin manche et début dos. Bon tricot!

Bonjour, je suis perdue pour la réalisation du col du modèle 103_1. " tricoter deux fois la maille lisse, puis faire un jeté qui devra être tourné avant d'être tricoté au rang suivant. Bonjour Mme Verstraete, on tricote 2 fois la m lisière, alternativement dans le brin avant et le brin arrière et on fait 1 jeté qui sera tricoté torse au rang suivant au double point de riz (= si la m suiv doit être une maille end, tricotez le jeté torse à l'envers, si la m suiv doit être une maille env, tricotez le jeté torse à l'endroit). Bonjour Mme Delarue, tricotez votre jeté torse à l'endroit en piquant dans le brin arrière au lieu du brin avant. Regardez bien le chemin de la pointe de l'aiguille indépendamment de la main qui tient le fil. Bon tricot!

Bonjour Mme Heckmann, au time code 1:12 environ nous montrons comment tricoter le jeté torse à l'envers (= sur l'envers), pour tricoter le jeté torse à l'endroit, tricotez le jeté dans le brin arrière. Bon tricot!

Serait-il possible de refaire le vidéo, mais en utilisant la méthode traditionnel et non continental car j ai essayé la méthode continental et rien a faire j\'en suis incapable. Faut dire que ca 36 ans que je tricote avec la méthode traditionnel.

Bonjour Nathalie, quelque soit la méthode utilisée pour tricoter, la technique sera la même: si vous tenez le fil dans la main droite, au moment de faire votre jeté, passez votre fil devant l'ouvrage et tricotez la maille suivante à l'endroit, le fil va automatiquement entourer l'aiguille droite. Au rang suivant, tricotez le jeté normalement à l'envers (= trou) ou dans le brin arrière (= pour éviter un trou). Bon tricot!

I understand that but when I come back across, I have having problems with the K6 that should happen over those YOs. I a working on Silver Dream-U-79. I have done elevation and placed marker for sleeves, centers and etc.; however I am somewhat confused on when to make increases. I understand the yarn over, but unclear on exactly where to do them. How do I get increases on sleeve and body at the same time when I only yarn over before and after stitches (markers). How does that increase the sleeve? Or climate the yarn over between the markers?

Dear Diane, in Silver Dream jumper, inc are done on either side of the K4 for raglan line. But you will dec sometimes only on sleeves (= 4 sts inc) or on sleeves/body (= 8 sts inc) - inc on sleeve are done with a YO after the K4 (raglan line) at the beg of sleeve and before the K4 at the end of sleeve - same on body: inc after the K4 for raglan line at beg of back/front piece and before the K4 at the end of back/front piece. Har en opskrift, hvor jeg netop skal tage således ud ... men jeg forstår simpelthen ikke, hvorfor jeg skal lave hul (større eller mindre) i mit strikketøj, når man kan lave en usynlig udtagning!?!? Hvilke fordele har denne udtagningsteknik, som kan opveje hullet?

Desværre vises netop den vigtige sekvens, hvor omslaget dannes, og hvor den strikkes drejet i meget hurtig tempo, så man ikke kan følge med!
