Gauge: 3.5 sts x 7 rows in pattern with 1 strand of each yarn (2 strands) = 10 x 10 cm.

Pattern with inc: Row 1 (right side): K 1, 2 yo, * K 1, yo *, repeat from * - * to last 2 sts, K 1, 2 yo, K 1.
Row 2 (wrong side): K, letting yo from previous row drop (= long st) – at the sides where there are 2 yo, K one of them and let the other one drop (= inc).

Stripe Pattern: Leave an end of approx. 30 cm of each yarn hanging when you change colors – these ends will be part of the fringe. The entire stripe pattern is worked in garter stitch.

Shawl: Loosely cast on 3 sts with 1 strand rust Vienna + 1 strand orange print Highlander. K 1 row (= wrong side). Then knit Pattern with inc following stripe pattern – see instructions above.
After all stripes are complete, there are 53 sts. Bind off with colors in last stripe. So that the edge will not be too tight, K 2 sts in ever other st at the same time as you bind off.

Fringe: Fasten 1 fringe tuft in each hole along both sides and in the point at lower edge. The fringe tuft should be the same color as the stripe.
Cut yarn in 60 cm lengths and bundle in stripe colors. Fold strands in half, pull through the hole in edge, then pull the ends through the loop. Knot the ends left hanging. The knotted ends and the fringe tufts will be different thicknesses.
