GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = K2 rows.

PATTERN:
See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows in pattern seen from RS. Work entire pattern in stockinette st.

KNITTING TIP:
When working A.1, 1 st at the end of row will not fit the pattern. Work this st in pattern as if it was first st in next repetition. This is done so that the pattern is the same on both sides of bands.

DECREASE TIP:
Dec 1 st before marker as follows: Work until 2 sts remain before marker, slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso.
Dec 1 st after marker as follows: K 2 tog.

BUTTONHOLES:
Dec for buttonholes on right band. 1 buttonhole = K tog second and third st from mid front and make 1 YO.

JACKET:
Worked back and forth on circular needle from mid front. Cast on 192-212-228-248-276-300 sts (includes 5 front band sts in each side towards mid front) on circular needle size 4.5 mm / US 7 with medium gray. P 1 row from WS. Continue to work rib as follows (1st row = RS): 5 band sts in GARTER ST - see explanation above - worked in garter st until finished measurements, * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* and finish with K 2 and 5 band sts in garter st - worked in garter st until finished measurements. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5 cm / 1½”-1½”-1½”-1½”-2”-2”, switch to circular needle size 5 mm / US 8 - remember BUTTONHOLES on right band - see explanation above!
K 1 row from RS while AT THE SAME TIME dec 27-35-39-41-45-51 sts evenly = 165-177-189-207-231-249 sts. Insert 1 marker each side, 44-47-50-54-60-65 sts in from mid front (= in the middle of sides), back piece = 77-83-89-99-111-119 sts. Work in stockinette st.
When piece measures 7 cm / 2¾’’, dec 1 st on each side of each marker (= 4 dec sts), repeat dec every 3 cm / 1 1/8’’ 3 more times (= 4 times in total) = 149-161-173-191-215-233 sts.
When piece measures 22 cm / 8¾”, inc 1 st on each side of each marker (= 4 inc sts), repeat inc every 3-3½-4-4½-5-5½ cm / 1 1/8”-1¼”-1½”-1¾”-2”-2¼” 2 more times (= 3 times in total) = 161-173-185-203-227-245 sts.
When piece measures 34-35-36-37-38-39 cm / 13 3/8’’-13¾’’-14¼’’-14½’’-15’’-15¼’’, bind off 6 sts in each side on next row from RS (i.e. 3 sts on each side of each marker) = 149-161-173-191-215-233 sts. Put piece aside.

SLEEVE EDGE:
Worked in the round. Cast on 68-68-68-76-76-76 sts on a circular needle size 4.5 mm / US 7 with medium gray and work rib K 2/P 2. When piece measures 4 cm / 1½’’, switch to circular needle size 5 mm / US 8, K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME dec 8-8-8-10-10-10 sts evenly = 60-60-60-66-66-66 sts. Insert 1 marker at the beg of round. Continue in stockinette st.
When piece measures 8 cm / 3’’, bind off 6 sts mid under sleeve (i.e. 3 sts on each side of marker) = 54-54-54-60-60-60 sts. Put piece aside and Make another sleeve edge the same way.

YOKE:
Slip sleeve edges on to same circular needle size 5 mm / US 8 as body where armholes were bind off = 257-269-281-311-335-353 sts. Work 0-2-4-6-8-10 rows in stockinette st with medium gray (1st row = WS).
P 1 row from WS while AT THE SAME TIME dec 12-6-0-12-0-0 sts evenly = 245-263-281-299-335-353 sts. Then work and dec according to diagram A.1 - see explanation above - continue with 5 edge sts in each side.
When A.1 has been worked vertically, 115-123-131-139-155-163 sts remain on needle. On next row, P from WS while AT THE SAME TIME dec 27-31-35-39-51-55 sts evenly = 88-92-96-100-104-108 sts.

NECK EDGE:
Switch to circular needle size 4.5 mm / US 7 and work back and forth with medium gray. Work as follows (from RS): 5 edge sts in garter st, *K 2, P 2*, repeat from *-* and finish with K 2 and 5 edge sts in garter st. Work like this until rib measures 2 cm / 3/4’’.
Bind off with K over K and P over P.

ASSEMBLY:
Sew tog the openings under the sleeves and sew on buttons on left band.
