Bonjour.

Where do I start reading the M2 and M3 graphs? Usually I start in the bottom right hand corner, reading right to left. Is this correct or should I start in another corner?
26.08.2018 - 08:57DROPS Design answered:
Hello Toby. You read diagrams M2 and M3 from bottom right hand corner and from right to left. Happy knitting!

It would be a lot easier to read the patterns if they were divided better and not just one long paragraph. It is very difficult to distinguish between rows.

PATTERN: See diagram M.1 to M.3, Diagrams show the pattern from RS. HEEL DECREASES: Row 1 (= RS): Work row until 7-8-9 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K1, psso, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): Work row until 7-8-9 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P1, psso, turn piece. Row 3: Work row until 6-7-8 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K1, psso, turn piece. Row 4: Work row until 6-7-8 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P1, psso, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are 11-11-11 sts on needle. -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 54-61-68 sts on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Karisma. K 1 round and continue in rib as follows: P2-3-3, K2, P2-2-3, M.1 (= 15 sts), P2-2-3, K2, P2-3-3, K2, * P3, K2 *, repeat from *-* on remaining sts. Continue in rib until there is 1 vertical repeat of M.1. Now continue in M.2 instead of M.1, with remaining sts as before. Continue in M.2 like this until piece measures 21-22-23 cm / 8¼"-8¾"-9". Now dec 1 st in each P-section by P tog the first 2 sts (incl P-sections before and after M.2, NOTE! do not dec on M.2) = 45-51-57 sts. Continue in rib and M.2. When piece measures 23-24-25 cm / 9"-9½"-9¾" keep the first 23-25-27 sts on needle for heel, and slip the remaining 22-26-30 sts on a stitch holder = mid upper foot. Work stockinette st back and forth on the 23-25-27 heel sts for approx 5-5.5-6 cm / 2"-2¼"-2⅜". Insert a marker in piece. Now dec for HEEL - see HEEL DECREASES! After heel dec pick up 11-13-15 sts each side of heel and slip sts from stitch holder back on needle = 55-63-71 sts. Insert a marker each side of the 22-26-30 sts mid upper foot. Continue in rib on sts on upper foot and stockinette st under foot. AT THE SAME TIME dec each side as follows: K tog into back of loop the 2 sts before rib on upper foot and K tog the 2 sts after rib on upper foot on every other round a total of 7 times = 41-49-57 sts. Continue until piece measures approx 18-19-21 cm / 7"-7½"-8¼" (= approx 4-5-6 cm / 1½"-2"-2⅜" remain) from marker on heel. Insert a marker each side with 20-24-28 sts on upper foot and 21-25-29 sts under foot. Continue in stockinette st on all sts, AT THE SAME TIME dec for toes each side of both markers as follows: K tog the 2 sts before marker, and K tog into back of loop the 2 sts after marker. Repeat the dec on every other round a total of 3 times and then on every round a total of 6-7-9 times = 5-9-9 sts. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts, tighten and fasten. Knit the other sock in the same way, but work M.3 instead of M.2. |
