In this DROPS video we show how to cast on new stitches at the side of your work.
We show two techniques of casting on new stitches e.g. when we are knitting a front piece and sleeves in one, and cast on new sts each side for the sleeves. First we cast on with loops, which is the easiest. It creates a loose edge which is ok if it will be seamed afterward like a sleeve seam. The next method is cable cast on also called knitted cast on, which is a great way when you want a firm nice edge.

Yes, if you are adding new sts this is a great way of doing it, but if you just are inc 1 new st usually K2 in last edge st is a good alternative. 01.07.2011 - 18:22
