Voinko käyttää lankavaihtoehtoja?

Kyllä, kunhan langassa on oikea neuletiheys. Tee aina mallitilkku ja tarkista, että leveyssuunnassa on oikea määrä silmukoita ja että korkeussuunnassa on oikea määrä kerroksia.

Ota huomioon, että eri lankojen rakenteet antavat neuleelle erilaiset pinnat. Lankojen juoksevuudet voivat myös vaihdella, joten käyttäessäsi lankavaihtoehtoa, laske aina tarvittava metrimäärä.

Tässä esimerkki siitä, miten lasket lankavaihtoehdon (samasta lankaryhmästä) metrimäärän:

Malliin tarvitaan 300g langasta X.
Langan X juoksevuus on 170m per 50g, eli tarvitset 6 kerää (lankaa X) x 170 m = 1020 m.
Haluat käyttää lankaa Y. Tämän langan juoksevuus on 150m per 50g.
1020m / 150m = 6.8 = tarvitset 7 kerää langasta Y, jotta metrimäärä olisi sama kuin langassa X.

Voit myös valita ohjeeseesi toiseen Lankaryhmään kuuluvan langan, korvaamalla langan seuraavasti:

  • 2-kertainen A = 1-kertainen C
  • 3-kertainen A = 1-kertainen D
  • 4-kertainen A = 1-kertainen E
  • 8-kertainen A = 1-kertainen F
  • 2-kertainen B = 1-kertainen D
  • 2-kertainen C = 1-kertainen E
  • 4-kertainen C = 1-kertainen F
  • 2-kertainen E = 1-kertainen F
  • 1-kertainen A + 1-kertainen C = 1-kertainen D
  • 2-kertainen A + 1-kertainen C = 1-kertainen E

Tässä esimerkissä näet miten korvaat 1-kertaisen Eskimo-langan (E) 2-kertaisella Nepal-langalla (C):

Malliin tarvitaan 1150g langasta E.
Langan E juoksevuus on 50m per 50g, eli tarvitset 23 kerää (langasta E) x 50 m = 1150 m lankaa E.
Haluat käyttää lankaa (Cx2). Tämän langan juoksevuus on 75m per 50g.
1150m / 75m = 15,3 kerää x 2 = 31 kerää lankaa (C) korvaa lankaa E.

Tässä kaksi erilaista esimerkkiä siitä, miten korvaat ryhmän A 2-kertaisen langan ryhmän C 1-kertaisella langalla kuten DROPS AIR TAI DROPS BIG MERINO: 1-kertainen Baby Alpaca Silk (BAS) ja 1-kertainen Kid Silk (KS):

Malliin tarvitaan 300g BAS + 125g KS.
Langan BAS juoksevuus on 167m per 50g, eli tarvitset 6 kerää BAS x 167m = 1002 m.
Langan KS juoksevuus on 200m per 25g, eli tarvitset 5 kerää KS x 200m = 1000 m.
Haluat käyttää DROPS AIR-lankaa. Tämän langan juoksevuus on 150m per 50g.
1000m/150m = 6,7 kerää = 7 kerää (AIR) korvaa 1-kertaisen BAS + 1-kertaisen KS.
TAI! Haluat käyttää DROPS BIG MERINO-lankaa. Tämän langan juoksevuus on 75m per 50g.
1000m/75m = 13,3 kerää = 14 kerää (BIG MERINO) korvaa 1-kertaisen BAS + 1-kertaisen KS.

I want to knit a pattern that is written for 1 strand BabyAlpaca Silk and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands) using just Baby Alpaca Silk yarn. Can you advise whether this would be possible and how to do it.

Dear Hilary, if your pattern is worked with 2 strands yarn group A the tension is completely different as if you would work it with only 1 yarn Baby Alpaca Silk (group A), you have then to calculate entirely the pattern again to adapt it to your own tension. I would like to use Drops brushed alpaca silk. This is C group yarn. I see that 2 strands of A equal one C. Is it possible to substitute these yarns. Would I need another strand of something else. Dear Mrs Noble, sure you can replace 2 strands of Alpaca with 1 strand Brushed Alpaca Silk but then you will have to work with 1 extra strand Alpaca (or any other yarn group A) and work with 2 strands (1 x C + 1 x A) - you might have to make a swatch to check the new fabric and remember to check your tension. I used the converter which said 50 gms of 1 strand Sky was equal to 95 gms of 1 strand Lima. How does that work with the stitches I cast on? Do I double the thread or cast on twice as many stitches? Or do I finish with a garment that is half the size? This conversion makes no sense.

Dear Mrs Stok, Lima and Sky belong the the same yarn group B since they have the same thickness, but they don't have the same meterage, Lima is 100 m for 50 g while Sky is 190 m for 50 g (reason why you will require a different number of balls for the same pattern), but you should be able to get the same tension, try out our swatch and adjust crochet/needle size if neede (read more here). Buonasera Loredana, DROPS Muskat e Safran appartengono a dei gruppi filati diversi rispetto a DROPS Paris, per cui il campione non corrisponderebbe. Potrebbe al massimo utilizzare il filato DROPS Safran a 2 fili, controllando che il suo campione corrisponda a quello indicato. Buon lavoro!

Bonjour Mme Guiot, pas vraiment car vous n'aurez pas la même tension avec ces 2 laines, Muskat appartient au groupe de fils B alors que Nord est du groupe de fils A; vous devez ainsi rester dans une alternative du groupe B (utilisez le convertisseur), ou bien si vous souhaitez utiliser plutôt Nord, cherchez des modèles du groupe A ou du groupe C (où vous pourrez tricoter Nord en double).
