PATTERN:
See diagrams M.1, M.2, M.3, M.4 and M.5. The diagrams show the pattern from RS.
Diagram M.1 shows how to work the beg of shawl. M.2 and M.3 show how to repeat the pattern each side of the middle, M.4 and M.5 shows how to finish the pattern at the bottom of shawl.

SHAWL:...On next row from RS work diagram M.1 one time in height.
Then work as follows: 3 sts in garter st, diagram M.2A 1 time, diagram M.2B 2 times, diagram M.2C 1 time, K 1 (= mid st), diagram M.3A 1 time, diagram M.3B 2 times, finish with diagram M.3C and 3 sts in garter st.
Continue the pattern like this, but for each repeat of M.2/M.3 in height work M.2B/M.3B one extra time on each side of mid st with marker. When piece measures approx. 70 cm/ 27½'' in the middle (make sure to finish after last row in diagram M.2/M.3), work diagram M.4 on the right side of middle stitch seen from RS and M.5 on left side.
Work M.4/M.5 1 time vertically, then work in garter st over all sts for approx. 2 cm / 3/4'' (continue inc 4 sts every other row), LOOSELY bind off all sts. Now piece measures approx. 80 cm / 31½''.

GARTER ST:
K back and forth on all rows. 1 ridge = 2 K rows.

INCREASE TIP:
All inc are done from RS. Inc 4 sts (1 st in each side, 2 sts in the middle) on every row from RS as follows: 3 sts in garter st, 1 YO, work until st with marker (= mid st), 1 YO, K 1 (= mid st), 1 YO, work until 3 sts remain on needle, 1 YO, 3 sts in garter st. P next row (and all rows from WS) (incl YOs) with 3 sts in garter st in each side.
----------------------------------------------------------

SHAWL:
Worked back and forth on circular needle to make room for all the sts. The shawl is worked from mid back and down. NOTE! Make sure to start with a new ball at beg of row and not in the middle of a row.

Cast on 7 sts on circular needle size 5 mm / US 8 with 1 strand of each yarn. Insert a marker in the 4th st (= mid st) and move the marker upwards when working.
Work 1st row as follows (= RS): 3 sts in GARTER ST - read explanation above, 1 YO, K 1 (= mid st with marker), 1 YO, 3 sts in garter st = 9 sts.
Then work in stockinette st with 3 sts in garter st in each side while AT THE SAME TIME inc 4 sts on every row from RS - READ INCREASE TIP! Continue like this until there are 17 sts on needle (= 8 sts on each side of mid st). REMEMBER THE GAUGE!
On next row from RS work diagram M.1 one time in height.
