Insert a marker in the middle st.
Row 1 (= WS): K all sts.
Row 2 (= RS): K until st with marker, 1 YO, K 1 (st with marker), 1 YO, K the rest of row.
Repeat 1st and 2nd row, i.e. inc 2 sts in the middle of the square on every row from RS. On rows from WS K YOs twisted (i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front) to avoid holes.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows.

Pot holder A:
17 ridges (1 ridge = 2 rows in garter st) white, 7 ridges lime , 5 ridges olive.
Pot holder B:
9 ridges yellow, * 1 ridge white, 1 ridge yellow *, repeat from *-* 8 times in total, 1 ridge white, 3 ridges yellow.

Cast on 21 sts on needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Ice white or yellow (depending on whether you are working pot holder A or B).
On next row work the first 3 sts, bind off the next 15 sts (= strap) and work the remaining 3 sts = 6 sts on needle. Work next row as follows: K 2, K 2 tog, K 2 = 5 sts on needle.
Now work DOMINO SQUARE with STRIPE PATTERN - see explanation above.
After the stripe pattern has been worked, loosely bind off.
