Gauge: 23 sts x 32 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm.

Rib: *K 2, P 2*, repeat *-*.

Tube socks: Cast on 56-60-68 sts on double-pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit rib for 31-32-33 cm. Then knit 1 row jogging the rib 1 st to the left as follows: over K 2 - P 2, the rib will now be P 1 - K 2 - P 1. * Knit 3 rows in rib, then jog the rib 1 st to the left again *, repeat * - * until the piece measures 49-51-54 cm. Put 1 marker at each side = 28-30-34 sts between markers.
Change to stockinette st and dec for toe: the 4 sts before each marker knit as follows: K 2 tog, 4 sts stockinette st (the marker sits in the center of these 4 sts), sl 1 st as if to knit, K 1, psso.
Dec at each side of each marker every other row 5-8-6 times and then dec every row 4-2-6 times = 20 sts remain. On the next row, K 2 tog over all sts. Cut yarn and pull through the remaining 10 sts twice, pull tight and fasten neatly.
The sock measures approx. 53-56-59 cm.

Crochet edge: Crochet a row of ch-loops around the top of the sock – crochet from wrong side – as follows: 1 sc in first st, * ch 7, skip over 3 sts, 1 sc in the next st *, repeat * - * and finish with ch 7 and 1 sl st in the first sc.
