Gauge: 26 sts x 52 rows in garter sts = 10 x 10 cm / 4'' x 4''.

Rib: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*

Garter sts (in the round on double pointed needles): Knit 1 round, purl 1 round

Decreasing tips: Dec on both sides of the 2 markers as follows (start 2 sts before a marker): K2 tog, marker, slip 1 st as if to knit, K1, psso.

The 3 bigger sizes have thumb, the 2 smaller sizes are without.
The mitten is knitted in the round on double pointed needles.
Loosely cast on 44-48-52 (56-60) sts with Alpaca on needles size 2.5 mm / US 1or2 and K1 round. Then work 4-5-6 (7-8) cm / 1½"-2"-2½" (2 3/4"-3") in rib and then continue in garter sts – see explanation above – at the same time adjusting number of sts on 1st round in garter st to 38-42-46 (50-54) sts.
The 3 bigger sizes: After 1 (2-3) cm / ½" (3/4"-1") in garter put the last 5 (6-6) sts on round on holder for thumb.
Cast on 5 (6-6) new sts over these on next round.
All sizes: When piece measures 10-11-12 (12-13) cm / 4"-4½"-4 3/4" (4 3/4"-5") insert a marker each side. Now dec 1 st on each side of both markers on every other round until there are 10 sts left – see Decreasing tips (= 4 dec per round).
Pull yarn through remaining sts and fasten.
The mitten measures approx 13-14-15 (16-17) cm / 5 1/8"-5½"-6" (6 1/4"-6 3/4").

Thumb: Put the 5 (6-6) sts from holder back on a double pointed needle and pick up 7 (8-8) sts behind these = 12 (14-14) sts. Work in garter st for 3 (4-5) cm / 1" (1½"-2").
Now K2 tog around. Pull yarn through remaining sts and fasten.
Make another mitten with the thumb at the other side (applies to the 3 bigger sizes).
