Hi I’m knitting pattern Drops 68-12 (Freedom Falling) with Bomull-Lin yarn. Can you explain the instructions for arm hole shaping where it says ‘every other row’. If I call the 1st bind-off row #1 do I then bind off at beginning of row 2 and then again rows 3&4 ? Or do I bind off at beginning of rows1&2 and then 5&6? Am I right in saying you can only bind off at the beginning of a row? I hope this makes sense! Best wishes Vivien

Hi Vivien, When you work the armholes you bind off at the beginning and end of row 1, then work a row without binding off, bind off at the beginning and end of row 3, then a row without binding off, etc. Hope this helps and happy knitting! On the

Angående opskriften "Freedom Falling" har I glemt at notere i den danske udgave, hvor meget Bomuld-Lin, der skal bruges. Jeg ved så til næste gang, man kan finde svaret i den engelske udgave (-;

Hallo Gisela, das Diagramm ist unten, unter den Stickerklärungen. Leider in schlechter Qualität, da es eine alte Anleitung ist.

Gauge: 16 sts x 22 rows on larger needles in stockinette st and Pattern 1 = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Pattern: See charts. The pattern is seen from the right side. The chart for Pattern 1 (83 rows) has arrows indicating the starting point for different sizes. The chart for Pattern 2 (70 rows) begins at the bottom for all sizes. On Fig. F, remember that «m» means «sts». Embroidery: See the charts for Figures A through F on page 24. Seed Stitch (on an even number of sts): Row 1: * K 1, P 1 * Row 2: * P 1, K 1 * Repeat Rows 1 2. Note: Ribbon has a tendency to twist when knit. For best results, untwist the yarn as you go along. Back: Cast on 90-98-106 sts on smaller needles with Bomull-Lin. Knit seed st - see instructions above - for 2 cm [0.75"]. Change to larger needles and stockinette st in Pattern 1 once - start at appropriate arrow on the chart. After Pattern 1 knit Pattern 2 and with Ribbon to finished measurements. When the piece measures 52-55-58 cm [20.5" - 21⅝" - 22⅞"] bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 3 sts 2-2-2 times, 2 sts 3-4-5 times, 1 st 2-3-5 times = 62-64-64 sts. When the piece measures 68-72-76 cm [26.75" - 28.25" - 29⅞"] bind off the center 24 sts for the neck. On the next row dec 1 st at each neck edge = 18-19-19 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off the remaining sts when the piece measures 70-74-78 cm [27⅝" - 29⅛" - 30.75"]. Right front: Cast on 46-50-54 sts on needles with Bomull-Lin. Knit seed st for 2 cm [0.75"], change to larger needles and stockinette st in pattern over all sts. When the piece measures 52-55-58 cm [20.5" - 21⅝" - 22⅞"] bind off for armhole at the side as on back = 32-33-33 sts. When the piece measures 56-59-62 cm [22" - 23.25" - 24⅜"] bind off 3 sts at center front edge for neck. Then dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 11 times = 18-19-19 sts remain on shoulder. Bind off the remaining sts when the piece measures 70-74-78 cm [27⅝" - 29⅛" - 30.75"]. Left front: Cast on and knit the same as the right reversing all shaping. Sleeve: Cast on 38-40-42 sts on smaller needles with Bomull-Lin. Knit seed st for 2 cm [0.75"]. Change to larger needles and continue with stockinette st in pattern as on Body. When the piece measures 10 cm [4"] inc 1 st at each side 9-9-10 times every 4-3.5-3 cm [1.5" - 1⅜" - 1.25"] = 56-58-62 sts. When sleeves measures 46-44-42 cm [18⅛" - 17.25" - 16.5"] bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 2 sts 3-3-2 times, 1 st 6-9-14 times, then bind off 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 57-57-58 cm [22.5" - 22.5" - 22⅞"]. Bind off the remaining sts. Embroidery: Embroider stripes over front in different lengths so that there will be squares - see Fig. F - sew over 1 st (width) and 2 rows (height). The stripes that go up from the bottom edge are embroidered with Ribbon, and the stripes from the shoulders down are embroidered with Bomull-Lin. Embroider flowers and knots with Ribbon as in Fig. E. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Button band: Pick up approx. 120 to 130 sts along left button band on smaller needles with Bomull-Lin. Knit seed st for 2 cm [0.75"], bind off in pattern. Repeat along right button band, but after 0.5 cm [0.25"] make 5 buttonholes evenly distributed on the row. Make the bottom buttonhole approx. 10-11-12 cm [4" - 4.25" - 4.75"] from bottom edge and the top buttonhole approx. 9-10-10 cm [3.5" - 4" - 4"] from top edge (1 buttonhole will be made in neckband). (1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts, cast on 2 new sts on the next row.) Neck: Pick up approx. 95 to 105 sts around the neck (incl. over button bands) on smaller needles with Bomull-Lin. Knit seed st – after 0.5 cm [0.25"] make 1 buttonhole over the others on the button band. Bind off when neckband measures 2 cm [0.75"]. Sew in sleeves. Sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. Sew on buttons. |
