Vielen Dank!

Dear Flora, buttonholes are made at the very end, when crocheting the border - see Assembly at the end of the pattern. Happy crocheting!

Gauge: 16 sts x 20 rows on larger needles with 1 strand Cotton Viscose and 1 strand Safran in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows. Pattern: See chart. 1 chart = 1 repeat. The pattern is seen from the right side. Knitting tips (decreasing for neck): All decs are made on right side rows. Dec inside 3 edge sts knit as follows: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st throughout), K 1, P 1. There are 2 different decs, 1 with a hole and 1 without. 1st dec (with hole): Before 3 edge sts: yo, K 3 tog. After 3 edge sts: Sl 1, K 2 tog, psso, yo. 2nd dec (without hole): Before 3 edge sts: K 2 tog. After 3 edge sts: sl 1, K 1, psso. Right front: Cast on 36-40-43-46 sts on smaller needles with 1 strand Cotton Viscose + 1 strand Safran. Knit 4 rows garter st, change to larger needles and stockinette st, but knit the 3 sts at the center front as follows (seen from the right side): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st throughout), K 1, P 1. Put a marker 16-17-18-19 sts from center front. When the piece measures 4-5-6-7 cm [1.5" - 2" - 2⅜" - 2.75"] knit as follows after the marker - seen from the right side: K 2 tog, yo, then the remaining sts in stockinette st - repeat this every 4 rows a total of 5 times = 5 holes. At the same time when the piece measures 5-6-7-8 cm [2" - 2⅜" - 2.75" - 3⅛"] dec 2 sts evenly distributed on right side of the marker - seen from the right side. Repeat decs when the piece measures 9-10-11-12 cm [3.5" - 4" - 4.25" - 4.75"] and 13-14-15-16 cm [5⅛" - 5.5" - 5⅞" - 6.25"] = 30-34-37-40 sts. After the 5 holes have been completed, knit Pattern 1, centering pattern over holes as shown in chart. After Pattern 1 is complete, continue with hole pattern until 4 more holes have been made, placing directly over previous ones. Then knit stockinette st over all sts to finished dimensions (keeping 3 sts at center front in rib as established). At the same time when the piece measures 17-18-19-20 cm [6.75" - 7" - 7.5" - 7⅞"] inc 2 sts evenly distributed on left side of the marker - that is, toward the side edge of piece. Repeat inc when the piece measures 22-23-24-25 cm [8⅝" - 9" - 9.5" - 9 7/8] and 27-28-29-30 cm [10⅝" - 11" - 11⅜" - 11.75"] = 36-40-43-46 sts. Read the entire next section before knitting. When the piece measures 33-34-36-37 cm [13" - 13⅜" - 14⅛" - 14.5"] bind off 3 sts at the side for armhole. Then bind off for armhole every other row: 2 sts 0-1-2-3 times and 1 st 3-4-5-5 times. At the same time when the piece measures 34-35-36-37 cm [13⅜" - 13.75" - 14⅛" - 14.5"], dec for the neck inside the 3 button band sts - see knitting tips. Alternate 1st dec (with hole) and 2nd dec (without hole) every other row 9 times. Then dec with 1st dec only every 4 rows 3-3-4-4 times. Now you have been binding off a total of 12-12-13-13 sts at the neck edge and 6-9-12-14 sts at armhole edge = 18-19-18-19 sts remain on shoulder. Continue on these sts and at the same time every 4 rows make 1 hole along neckband as follows (from neck edge): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st throughout), K 1, P 1, sl 1, K 1, psso, yo. Bind off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58 cm [20.5" - 21.25" - 22" - 22⅞"]. Left front: Knit the same as the right but reversing all shaping (make holes on right side of the marker instead of left). After neck shaping is complete make holes as follows (5 sts before neck edge): yo, K 2 tog, P 1, K 1, K 1 (edge st knit in garter st throughout). Bind off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58 cm [20.5" - 21.25" - 22" - 22⅞"]. Back: Cast on 70-78-84-90 sts on smaller needles with 1 strand Cotton Viscose + 1 strand Safran. Knit 4 rows garter st. Change to larger needles and stockinette st. When the piece measures 5-6-7-8 cm [2" - 2⅜" - 2.75" - 3⅛"] dec 4 sts evenly distributed on the row. Repeat dec when the piece measures 9-10-11-12 cm [3.5" - 4" - 4.25" - 4.75"] and 13-14-15-16 cm [5⅛" - 5.5" - 5⅞" - 6.25"] = 58-66-72-78 sts. When the piece measures 17-18-19-20 cm [6.75" - 7" - 7.5" - 7⅞"] inc 4 sts evenly distributed on the row. Repeat inc when the piece measures 22-23-24-25 cm [8⅝" - 9" - 9.5" - 9 7/8] and 27-28-29-30 cm [10⅝" - 11" - 11⅜" - 11.75"] = 70-78-84-90 sts. When the piece measures 33-34-36-37 cm [13" - 13⅜" - 14⅛" - 14.5"] bind off for armhole at each side as on front = 58-60-60-62 sts. When the piece measures 50-52-54-56 cm [19.75" - 20.5" - 21.25" - 22"] bind off the center 20-20-22-22 sts - bind off on a wrong side row with knit sts. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge on the next row - use 2nd dec (without holes) = 18-19-18-19 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 52-54-56-58 cm [20.5" - 21.25" - 22" - 22⅞"]. Sleeve: Cast on 38-38-44-44 sts on smaller needles with 1 strand Cotton Viscose + 1 strand Safran. Knit 4 rows garter st, change to larger needles and knit 3 rows stockinette st. Then knit Pattern 1 over all sts, keeping 1 st at each edge in stockinette st throughout. After Pattern 1 knit stockinette st to finished dimensions. At the same time when the piece measures 7 cm [2.75"] inc 1 st at each side 9-11-8-9 times: Sizes S and L: alternately every 6 and 7 rows. Size M: every 5 rows. Size XL: alternately every 5 and 6 rows. = 56-60-60-62 sts. When the piece measures 37-35-34-33 cm [14.5" - 13.75" - 13⅜" - 13"] bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 2-4-5-6 times, 2 sts 2 times and 3 sts 1 time. Bind off, the piece measures approx. 45-45-45-45 cm [17.75"]. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves and sew sleeve and side seams using edge sts as a seam allowance. Crochet with 1 strand Cotton Viscose + 1 strand Safran: 1 row sc around neck and along each button band - at the same time on right button band make 3 buttonhole loops as follows from top down: 1 sc, ch 3, 1 sc 1 cm [3/8"] lower on band, repeat 2 times with 6 cm [2⅜"] between each. Turn and sl st up along button bands and 3 sc around each buttonhole loop. Sew on buttons. |
