The shoulders will be approx. 2 cm [0.75"] smaller than shown on schematic before blocking – this is because the 6 rib sts pull in.

Materials: DROPS SAFRAN,
100% cotton, 50 g/160 m./174 yards
150-150-200 g. col. no. 01, light pink.
54% Egyptian cotton, 46% viscose, 50 g./110 m./120 yards
200-200-250 g. col. no. 03, dusty pink.

Alternate yarns:
Note: Safran and Cotton-Viscose can also be interchanged with each other.
* DROPS SILKE-TWEED, 52% silk, 48% lambswool, 50 g./200 m./218 yards

Alternate yarns:
1 strand of any of the following yarns may be interchanged with double strands of the yarns specified.

DROPS 4 mm [US 6] and 5 mm [US 8] needles and 3.5 mm [US 4] short circular needles, or sizes needed to obtain correct gauge.

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from cm to inch - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in British and American English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here.
Gauge: 17 sts x 22 rows on larger needles with 1 strand Cotton Viscose and 1 strand Safran in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].

Garter st, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.

Rib: * K 1, P 1 *, repeat from * - *.

Knitting tips: At armhole edge dec inside 5 sts knit as follows (seen from the right side of work and from edge inward): K 1 (edge st knit in garter st throughout), K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1.
At neck edge dec inside 3 sts knit as follows: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st throughout), K 1, P 1.
All decs are made on right side rows. Dec 1 st as follows:
After edge sts: sl 1, K 1, psso.
Before edge sts: K 2 tog.

Increase tips: Inc on right side row as follows: K 1 (edge st knit in garter st throughout), K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1, in the 7th st bring up and knit a st from previous row (= increased st).

Front: Cast on 66-74-78 sts on smaller needles with 1 strand Cotton Viscose and 1 strand Safran. Knit 4 rows garter st, change to larger needles and stockinette st. When the piece measures 7-8-9 cm [2.75" - 3 1/8" - 3.5"] inc 1 st at each side inside 2 edge sts 4-4-5 times every 5-5-4 cm [2" - 2" - 1.5"] = 74-82-88 sts. When the piece measures 30-31-32 cm [11.75" - 12.25" - 12 5/8"] bind off 5-6-7 sts at each side for armhole on a wrong side row. Then dec 1 st at armhole every other row 5-7-8 times inside 5 edge sts - see knitting tips = 54-56-58 sts. When the piece measures approx. 38-40-42 cm [14 7/8" - 15.75" - 16.5"] inc 1 st at each side every 4 rows 3-3-3 times - see increase tips. At the same time when the piece measures 42-44-46 cm [16.5" - 17.25" - 18 1/8"] put the center 14-14-14 sts on a st holder for the neck. Dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 5-5-5 times - see knitting tips. Bind off the remaining 18-19-20 sts on each shoulder when the piece measures 48-50-52 cm [18 7/8" - 19.75" - 20.5"].

Back: Cast on and knit the same as the front. Bind off, dec and inc for armhole as on front. When the piece measures 46-48-50 cm [18 1/8" - 18-7/8" - 19.75"] bind off the center 20-20-20 sts for the neck. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 2-2-2 times - see knitting tips. Bind off the remaining 18-19-20 sts on each shoulder when the piece measures 48-50-52 cm [18 7/8" - 19.75" - 20.5"].

Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.
Pick up approx. 70 to 80 sts around the neck on short circular needles with 1 strand Cotton Viscose and 1 strand Safran. Knit rib - see instructions above - increasing on 1st row to approx. 100 sts (divisible by 2) evenly distributed on the row - do not inc over the center front 14 sts. Bind off in pattern when neckband measures 9 cm [3.5"]. Sew side seams using edge sts as seam allowance.
