Dear Olga, no this hat is knitted in only one strand - the white ball is for a pompom, which is made of 2 colours. Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. 1 ridge = K2 rows. STRIPES: * 12 cm / 4¾'' light gray, 12 cm / 4¾'' off white, 12 cm / 4¾'' light beige *, repeat from *-* until finished measurements. ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 54-57 sts on needles size 8 mm / US 11 with light beige. * K 1, P 2 *, repeat from *-* the entire row. Work 3 more rows with K over K and P over P. Then work piece in GARTER ST - see explanation above - AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row dec 0-1 st evenly = 54-56 sts. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When piece measures 18-19 cm / 7"-7½", adjust so that next row is from RS, dec as follows: ROW 1: * K 7-5, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire row = 48 sts = 6-8 dec sts. ROW 2 (and then on every even numbered row): K all sts. ROW 3: * K 4, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire row = 40 sts = 8 dec sts. ROW 5: * K 3, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire row = 32 sts. ROW 7: * K 2, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire row = 24 sts. ROW 9: * K 1, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire row = 16 sts. ROW 11: K all sts tog 2 by 2 = 8 sts. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. Sew hat tog, sew in outer loops of edge sts to avoid a chunky seam. POMPOM: Make 1 pompom of approx. 8 cm / 3'' in diameter with off white and light beige. Sew the pompom on the top of the hat. ---------------------------------------------------------- SCARF: Cast on 28 sts on needle size 12 mm / US 17 with light gray. Work in GARTER ST and STRIPES - see explanation above. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! bind off when piece measures approx. 156 cm / 61" - adjust to finish after a whole stripe. |
