GARTER ST (in the round on circular needle):
* K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds.

PATTERN:
Round 1: P all sts.
Round 2: K all sts.
Round 3: * K 2 tog, 1 YO *, repeat from *-*.
Round 4: K all sts.
Round 5: P all sts.

NECK WARMER:
Worked in the round on circular needle from bottom up.
Cast on 135-150 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Lima.
Work 2 RIDGES in garter st - see explanation above. Switch to circular needle size 4.5 mm / US 7.
Work 4 rounds in stockinette st, then work * PATTERN - see explanation above - and 7 cm / 2¾'' in stockinette st *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times vertically.
Work 1 round in stockinette st while AT THE SAME TIME dec 15-18 sts evenly (= dec approx. every 9th-8th st) = 120-132 sts. Then work pattern 1 time vertically.
Work 3 rounds in stockinette st. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 and work 2 ridges in garter st.
Bind off. Piece measures approx. 40 cm / 15 3/4''.

HAT:
Worked in the round on circular needle and change to double pointed needles when decreasing. Loosely cast on 100-110 sts on circular needle size 4 mm / US 6 with Lima. Work 2 RIDGES in garter st - see explanation above.
Work 5 rounds in stockinette st, then work PATTERN - see explanation above - 1 time vertically. Work in stockinette st for 6 cm / 2½''. Then work pattern 1 time vertically. Now work in stockinette st until piece measures 18-19 cm / 7"-7½". Then dec as follows:
ROUND 1: * K 8-9 sts, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 90-100 sts = 10 dec sts.
ROUND 2 (and then on every even numbered round): K all sts.
ROUND 3: * K 7-8 sts, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 80-90 sts.
ROUND 5: * K 6-7 sts, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 70-80 sts.
ROUND 7: * K 5-6 sts, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 60-70 sts.
ROUND 9: * K 4-5 sts, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 50-60 sts.
ROUND 11: * K 3-4 sts, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 40-50 sts.
ROUND 13: * K 2-3 sts, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 30-40 sts.
ROUND 15: * K 1-2 sts, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 20-30 sts.
ROUND 17: * K 0-1 st, K the next 2 sts tog *, repeat from *-* the entire round = 10-20 sts.
Size L/XL:
ROUND 18: K 2 tog around = 10 sts.
All sizes: = 10 sts remain.
Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten.
Piece measures approx. 24-25 cm / 9½"-9 3/4" in height.
