Hana

Sorry ending with 3 ch and tr is in the other pattern A-1 not A-2 read wrong line. But the other is wrongly translated though I think.

Princess shawl trouble the translation in Icelandic is wrong, they say to do 1 tr in to next loop and then tr-group to the next but in English (UK) it makes more sense if I understand I have to make tr-group in to the ch not the ch loop like translate it in Icelandic, in beginning of a row I ch 5 and that makes it look wrong (not 5 & tr) so I'm wondering if the translation is right? I make my own like I thought it looks like on the pattern pic.

Having finished the shawl, I found that 6 ch at the beginning and a double treble (British definition) at the end of each row gives a much better finish than 5 ch and treble as per the pattern. The ends are still slightly curved but not in a tight way. This suited my style much better than crocheting loosely at the start and end of each row.

Like others, A2 curves round and is not a straight line. If crocheting the first 5 and last 3 chains is the answer, this should really be incorporated into the pattern but my feeling is that this is a design fault. Having crocheted 9 rows of A2, I am reluctant to undo and rework these but suspect I may have to. I am not sure blocking will be the answer and don't want to get to the end of the shawl to find out.

When piece measures approx. 32 cm / 12½" in the middle vertically - NOTE: Make sure that the last row has an even number of ch-spaces on each side of ch-space in the middle - then work in diagram A.2 - See diagram A.2 and read explanation above.
