I wanted to thank you for having the correct way to use "magic loop". People on the internet took advantage, yours was correct. "Magic loop" so there isn't a hole when the project's done. Now all I need to search is to find out how "2 at a time" socks is worked. Thanks again. You can forward this post if you like ?

Bon tricot!

How many stitches should there be on each needle
18.02.2014 - 11:36DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Jackson, if you work with sts on 4 needle, divide total of sts by 4, for example in 1st size, 62 sts/4 = 2 needles with 15 sts and 2 needle with 16 sts. Happy knitting!

Knitted DROPS socks with lace pattern in "Fabel".
DROPS 130-19 |
||||||||||||||||
PATTERN: See diagram M.1 (= 41 sts) and M.2 (= 25 sts). HEEL DECREASE (worked in stockinette st): Row 1 (= RS): Work until 7-8-9 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): Work until 7-8-9 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn piece. Row 3 (= RS): Work until 6-7-8 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn piece. Row 4 (= WS): Work until 6-7-8 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are 15-17-19 sts on needle. -------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 62-66-70 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm / US 1or2 with Fabel. K 2 rounds, then work 6 rounds rib K1/P1. Work next round as follows: Rib K1/P1 as before over the first 11-15-19 sts, K over the remaining 51 sts while AT THE SAME TIME dec 10 sts evenly over these = 52-56-60 sts. On next round work rib K1/P1 over the first 11-15-19 sts as before and M.1 - see explanation above - over the remaining 41 sts. Continue with rib K1/P1 and M.1. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When piece measures 16-16-20 cm / 6¼"-6¼"-8" (adjust after 1 whole repetition of M.1 vertically), keep the 11-15-19 sts in rib + 8 sts on each side of rib on needle for heel (= 27-31-35 sts). Slip the remaining 25-25-25 sts on a stitch holder (= mid upper foot). Work in stockinette st back and forth over heel sts for 5-5.5-6 cm / 2"-2¼"-2⅜". Insert a marker in mid of heel, measure piece from here. Now dec for heel - see HEEL DECREASE. After heel dec, knit up 13-14-16 sts along each side of heel and slip the 25-25-25 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 66-70-76 sts. Insert a marker in each side of the middle 25 sts on mid upper foot. Continue in stockinette st under foot, continue with M.2 over the remaining 25 sts on mid upper foot while AT THE SAME TIME dec in each side as follows: K tog the last 2 sts before marker on mid upper foot twisted (i.e knit in the back loop of st instead of front) and K tog the first 2 sts after M.2 and marker on upper foot. Repeat the dec every other round a total of 8-8-9 times = 50-54-58 sts. Continue working until piece measures 18-20-22 cm / 7"-8"-8¾" from marker on heel (finish after one whole or half repetition of M.2 - see arrow in diagram = approx. 4-4-5 cm / 1½"-1½"-2" remain until finished length). Insert a marker in each side of foot =25-27-29 sts on upper foot (= M.2 + 0-1-2 sts on each side of M.2) and 25-27-29 sts under foot. Continue in stockinette st over all sts while AT THE SAME TIME dec for toes on each side of both markers as follows - beg 2 sts before the marker: K 2 tog, marker, K 2 twisted tog. Continue dec in each side on every other round a total of 4-4-6 times and then on every round a total of 6-7-6 times = 10 sts remain on needle. Cut the thread and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. |
