This pattern is missing some instructions - after dividing on to dp needles for the thumb increase it does not say which row you increase the first inc. for the thumb. Assuming you are a knitter I would say the row number, the one after your 3/8" of ss is done is the one to do the first inc. , if you are not a knitter, you must be frustrated. Please make sure the instructions are correct before printed.

Dear Mrs Wood, first increases for thumb are worked after 1 cm = 3/8", then you continue to increase on every 3rd round a total of 5-6 times (see your size). Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. ---------------------------------------------------------- LEFT GLOVE: First worked back and forth, then in the round. Cast on 54-60 sts with Delight on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm / US 1. Work GARTER ST back and forth – see above! When piece measures 7 cm / 2¾" bind off 6 sts at the end of row, cut the thread = 48-54 sts, Now continue in the round in stockinette st. NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! When piece measures 1 cm / ⅜" inc for thumb gusset. Inc 1 st each side of the last but one st on round – inc by making 1 YO, to avoid a hole K YO into back of loop on next round. Inc each side of de inc sts on every 3rd round a total of 5-6 times = 11-13 thumb sts and a total of 58-66 sts. When piece measures 6-7 cm / 2⅜"-2¾" slip the thumb sts + 1 st each side of these (= 13-15 sts) on a stitch holder. Cast on 3 new sts behind the thumb = 48-54 sts. Continue in stockinette st in the round until piece measures 10-11 cm / 4"-4⅜". Now slip the first 19-21 sts on upper hand on a stitch holder, keep the next 11-12 sts on needle and slip the last 18-21 sts from palm of hand on another stitch holder. LITTLE FINGER: = 11-12 sts, Cast on 1 new st towards sts on stitch holder = 12-13 sts. Work stockinette st in the round for approx 5.5 -6.5 cm / 2¼"-2½", then K2 tog across the round. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts, tighten tog. HAND: Slip sts from stitch holders back on needle and pick up 2 sts towards little finger = 39-44 sts. Work 2 rounds in stockinette st. Keep the 2 sts picked up towards little finger + 6-6 sts from upper hand and 5-6 sts from palm of hand on needle. Slip the remaining sts back on separate stitch holders (= 13-15 sts on upper hand and 13-15 sts on palm of hand). RING FINGER: = 13-14 sts, cast on 1 new st towards sts on stitch holders = 14-15 sts. Work stockinette st in the round for approx 7-8 cm / 2¾"-3⅛", then K2 tog across the round. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts, tighten tog. MIDDLE FINGER: Slip 6-7 sts from each stitch holder back on needle, pick up 2 sts towards ring finger and cast on 1 new st towards sts on stitch holders = 15-17 sts. Work stockinette st in the round for approx 7.5-8.5 cm / 2⅞"-3¼", then K2 tog across the round. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts, tighten tog. INDEX FINGER: Slip the remaining 14-16 sts from stitch holders back on needle, pick up 2 sts towards middle finger = 16-18 sts. Work stockinette st in the round for approx 6.5-7.5 cm / 2½"-2⅞", then K2 tog across the round. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts, tighten tog. THUMB: Slip sts over thumb gusset on needle and pick up 3 sts in the edge behind thumb sts = 16-18 sts. Work stockinette st in the round for approx 5.5-6 cm / 2¼"-2½", then K2 tog across the round. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts, tighten tog. RIGHT GLOVE: Like left glove, but mirrored, i.e. Bind off 6 sts at beg of row and inc for thumb gusset each side of the second st on round instead of the last but one st. ASSEMBLY: Sew 2 decorative buttons on each glove - sew through both layers near the split at the top of glove. |
