Hello! I do not understand how to knit black dots. From reverse side they should be knited as a Knit? so, those squares when looking from the right side will have alternate row of Knits and Purls, is it correct? thank you!
11.05.2024 - 16:09DROPS Design answered:
Dear Aurelija, Yes, that is correct. Stitches marked with the black dot should be knitted from the wrong side, so they will appear as garter stitch in the piece. Happy Knitting!

Bon tricot!

Hello, I have 149 sts on my needle and can't work out the first row of the diamond pattern. It seems to be worked in 2 halfs. 5.5 repetition in each half, if I worked it out correctly. How many sts should I have on my needle after the 1st row of diamond pattern? ( get 163 sts and end up with 5 garter sts instead of 3 at the end of the first row of the diamond pattern. Thank you.
11.10.2019 - 15:02DROPS Design answered:
Dear Andrea, you increase 4 sts on each row, so that after 1st row M.1A,B and C you should have 149-4= 153 sts. Work as follows; 3 sts in garter st, M.1A (= 1 YO =1 inc, K1), M.1B (= 14 sts x 5), M.1C (= 1 YO = 1 inc), K1 (middle stitch), M.1A (= 1 YO =1 inc, K1), M.1B (= 14 sts x 5), M.1C (= 1 YO = 1 inc), 3 sts in garter stitch. You can add markers between each diagram so that you will be sure the number of stitches will be correct. When diagrams have been worked 1 time in height you have increased 14 sts x 4 (1 st in each M.1A+C) = 4 sts in each row x 14 RS rows. Happy knitting!

Hello, it's a beautiful design but the instructions are confusing. I'm stuck on the first row of pattern and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong? How many stitches are on the needle after the first row of pattern? Are the YO Sts counted in the 70 or are they increases? What do you mean by "for each vertical repeat of M.1 work an extra repeat of M.1B each side of the middle." - is it on the diagram or is it a separate instruction? Thank you.
11.10.2019 - 08:52DROPS Design answered:
Dear Andrea, you cast on 7 sts and work first row as follows: 3 sts in garter st, YO, 1 st in garter st (= middle stitch), YO, 3 sts in garter st = 9 sts (2 sts inc). Now continue to increase 4 sts every RS row: 3 sts in garter st, YO, work to the middle st, YO, middle st, YO, work until 3 sts remain on needle, YO, 3 sts in garter st = you have now increased 4 sts. Continue like this until there are 149 sts on needle. When you have worked diagrams in height, you have increased enough stitches to work one more repeat of M.1B between M.1A and M.1C. Happy knitting!

PATTERN: See diagram M.1. Diagram shows the pattern from RS. GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. INCREASING TIP: Inc 4 sts on every row from RS throughout as follows: Inc 1 st at beg of row: 3 garter sts, 1 YO. On next row P YO. Inc 2 sts mid piece: 1 YO, work middle st, 1 YO. On next row P YO. Inc 1 st at the end of row: 1 YO, 3 garter sts. On next row P YO. -------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: Worked back and forth on circular needle in order to fit in all sts and worked from mid back at top towards the bottom. NOTE! Make sure to start a new ball of yarn at the side and not mid piece. Cast on 7 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Kid-Silk. Insert a marker in st no 4 (marks mid back). Work first row as follows (= RS): 3 GARTER STS - see above - 1 YO, 1 garter st, 1 YO and 3 garter sts = 9 sts. Continue back and forth in garter st AT THE SAME TIME inc 4 sts on every other row - See INCREASING TIP! Continue until there are 149 sts on needle (piece measures approx 18 cm / 7", measured in knitting direction). Continue as follows (from RS): 3 garter sts, M.1A, M.1B on the next 70 sts, M.1C, 1 stockinette st (= middle st), M.1A, M.1B on the next 70 sts, M.1C and 3 garter sts. Continue in pattern like this, but for each vertical repeat of M.1 work an extra repeat of M.1B each side of the middle. Work a total of 4.5 vertical repeats of M.1 = 401 sts. Now continue in garter st on all sts, AT THE SAME TIME inc 4 sts on every other row as before. Continue until there are approx 11 cm / 4½" garter st after M.1 and bind off LOOSELY with 2 strands. |
