Hi! I don't get where to decrease. It is said to do so once after M4 (I get that one) and then once before M2, even though we haven't started doing M2 yet... Someone please enlighten me Many thanks

Dear Jan, you will have to decrease on each side of M.4 (not M.2), ie decrease 1 stitch after M.4 at the beg of the round and decrease 1 stitch before M.4 at the end of the round, this will decrease the number of stitches in M.3. A correction will be added, thanks for your feedback. Happy knitting!

Dear Mrs Bloom, you will find on the internet some free virtual printer to let you download the patern as a pdf instead of printing it if you rather. Happy knitting!

Hej!

Pattern: See diagram M.1 to M.4. Diagram shows the pattern from the RS. Work the entire pattern in stockinette st. Heel dec: Row 1 (= RS): Work row until 7-8 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn the piece. Row 2 (= WS): Work row until 7-8 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn the piece. Row 3: Work row until 6-7 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso, turn the piece. Row 4: Work row until 6-7 sts remain, slip 1 st as if to P, P1, psso, turn the piece. Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are13-13 sts on row. SOCK Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 72-80 sts on needle size 3 mm [US 2or3] with dark gray. Work rib, K2/P2, until piece measures 13-16 cm [5 1/8”-6¼”]. Change to needle size 3.5 [US 4] and work 2 rounds stockinette st, at the same time inc 4-6 sts evenly on first round = 76-86 sts. Work M.1 across the round on all sts and then work 2 rounds dark gray. Work next round as follows: M.3 on the first 69-79 sts and M.4 on the last 7 sts (M.4 = mid back). Continue in pattern like this. When piece measures 29-32 cm [11 3/8”-12½”] beg dec at the back: K tog the 2 sts after M.4 and K tog the 2 sts before M.4 into back of loop on every 4th round a total of 14-16 times (dec in M.3) = 48-54 sts. When piece measures 50-56 cm [19¾”-22”] keep the first 9-10 sts on needle for heel, slip the next 23-27 sts on a stitch holder (= mid upper foot) and keep the last 16-17 sts on needle = 25-27 sts for heel. Work stockinette st back and forth on heel sts as follows: 1 row dark gray, then 5-6 cm [2”-2 3/8”] of M.2. Now dec for heel - see Heel dec. After heel dec pick up 12-13 sts on either side of heel and slip all sts back on needles = 60-66 sts. Continue in M.3 on the 23-27 sts on upper foot, work 1 dark gray st on both side of these and work M.2 on the remaining sts. At the same time dec each side as follows: work round to 3 sts before M.3, K2 tog, K 1 dark gray st, M.3, K 1 dark gray st, K tog 2 sts. Dec like this on every other round a total of 6 times = 48-54 sts. When the foot measures 19-22 cm [7½”-8¾”] (= approx 4 cm [1½”] left, try the sock on and work to desired length) work 1 round dark gray on all sts and now complete foot in M.2 (keeping 1 dark gray st on both sides of foot). Dec for toes on each side of the dark gray st follows: Dec as follows before dark gray st: K2 tog. Dec as follows after dark gray st: K 2 tog into back of loop. Dec like this each side on every other round 4 times and then on every round 7-8 times = 4-6 sts left on needle. Cut the thread, pull through remaining sts and fasten. |
