Gauge: 21 sts x 28 rows on larger needles in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm.
Rib: *K 1, P 2*, repeat from *-*.
Pattern: See the chart. The pattern is seen from the right side and is knit entirely in stockinette st.
Front:
Cast on (98) 107-113-122-131 sts on smaller needles with dark brown and knit rib for 6-7-7-7-7 cm. Change to larger needles and knit 2 rows garter st, adjusting (inc/dec) evenly to 99-107-113-121-131 on the 1st row. Change to stockinette st. When the piece measures 8 cm inc 1 st at each side every 6-8-6-6-7 cm a total of 4-4-5-6-5 times = 107-115-123-133-141 sts. When the piece measures 28-33-34-35-36 cm knit Pattern 2 (M.2) for Size 12/14 years and Pattern 1 (M.1) for all other sizes – start at the appropriate arrow on the chart – then knit with dark brown to finished measurements.
At the same time when the piece measures 35-43-44-45-46 cm bind off for armhole at each side every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2-1-2-2-3 times and 1 st 4-1-3-5-7 times = 85-103-103-109-109 sts. When the piece measures 50-59-61-63-65 cm bind off the center 11-13-13-13-13 sts for the neck. Then bind off at each neck edge every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2-2-2-3-3 times and 1 st 4-5-5-4-4 times = 26-33-33-35-35 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 56-66-68-70-72 cm.
Back:
Cast on and knit the same as the front. Bind off for armholes as on front. When the piece measures 54-64-66-68-70 cm bind off the center 29-33-33-35-35 sts for the neck. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 2 times = 26-33-33-35-35 sts remain on each shoulder. Bind off when the piece measures 56-66-68-70-72 cm.
Sleeve:
Cast on 50-53-53-56-56 sts on smaller needles with dark brown and knit rib for 8-9-9-9-9 cm.
Change to larger needles and knit 2 rows garter st, at the same time dec 1-0-0-1-1 st = 49-53-53-55-55 sts.
Change to stockinette st.
When the piece measures 10-11-15-14-12 cm inc 1 st at each side every 2-2-1.5-1.5-1.5 cm a total of 18-19-22-22-25 times = 85-91-97-99-105 sts.
When the sleeve measures 37-35-36-36-37 cm knit Pattern 2 for Size 12/14 years and Pattern 1 for all other sizes – center the pattern on the sleeve – then knit with dark brown to finished measurements.
At the same time, when sleeve measures 47-49-50-50-51 cm bind off for sleeve cap at each side every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 3 sts 1-2-2-2-2 times, 2 sts 2-2-3-3-3 times and 1 st 2-1-1-1-3 times, then 2 sts at each side until the piece measures 53-54-56-57-59 cm, and then bind off 3 sts at each side 1 time, and then 4 sts at each side 1 time. Bind off the remaining sts, the piece measures 55-56-58-59-61 cm.
Assembly: Sew shoulder seams.
Neckband: Pick up and knit approx. 87-105 sts (divisible by 3) around the neck on double-pointed needles with dark brown; join and P 1 row and K 1 row, then knit rib until the neckband measures 6-8-8-8-8 cm, bind off in rib. Fold neckband in half to wrong side and stitch in place.
