Continue in garter st until the work measures 14-16 cm [5.5" - 6.25"], then dec 1 st at each side every other row 8 times = 7-9 sts on the needles, bind off - the peak measures approx. 21-23 cm [8.25" - 9"].
Pick up 72-80 sts around the peak on double pointed needles. Knit garter st. After 7-8 cm [2.75" - 3-1/8"] decrease evenly distributed to 58-62 sts. Then knit 12-14 cm [4.75" - 5.5"] garter st and bind off loosely. Tie off the strands and fold the bottom edge over double against the right side.

GLOVES:
Size: Ladies’ (Size 7 - medium)
DROPS 6 mm [US 10] and 3 mm [US 2] double pointed needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge.
Gauge:
Puddel: 11 sts on larger needle in stockinette st = 10 cm [4"]
Alpaca: 24 sts x 32 rows on smaller needle in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"].
Garter Stitch, when knitting flat: Knit all sts, all rows.
Garter Stitch, when knitting in the round: *Rnd 1, knit. Rnd 2, purl *. Repeat from * - *.
Gloves: Cast on 28 sts on larger double pointed needles with Puddel; join and place a marker at the join. Knit garter st for 8 cm [3-1/8"]. Change to smaller double pointed needles and Alpaca and knit stockinette st, increasing 22 sts evenly distributed on the first row = 50 sts. Measure the work from here. When the work measures 1 cm [3/8"] inc 10 sts evenly distributed on the row = 60 sts. When the work measures 2 cm [0.75"] inc 1 st on each side of marker for a «wedge» for the thumb. Then inc 1 st on each side of these 2 sts 7 times every other row = 16 sts in the «wedge» with 2 edge sts. Now put these 16 thumb-sts + 1 st on each side = 18 sts on a st holder and cast on 2 new sts behind the «wedge» = 60 sts. When the work measures 10 cm [4"] knit the next row as follows: 2 sts over the «wedge», 21 sts, put 13 sts on a st holder for the little finger, cast on 1 new st and knit the remaining 24 sts. Knit 2 rows over these 48 sts. Then put the new sts and 16 sts on each side of this on a st holder = 33 sts.
Little finger: Knit 13 sts from the st holder and inc 1 st for the ring finger = 14 sts. Join and knit 6-8 cm [2-3/8" - 3-1/8"], then K 2 tog across the next row. Pull a doubled strand of yarn through the sts.
Knit 3 rows over the remaining sts on the glove before the remaining fingers are knit.
Index finger: Knit 15 sts and cast on 1 new st = 16 sts. Join and knit 7-9 cm [2.75" - 3.5"], then K 2 tog across the next row. Pull a doubled strand through the sts.
Center finger: Knit 8 sts from the bottom of the hand, cast on 1 new st, knit 8 sts from the top of the hand and inc 1 st for the index finger = 18 sts. Join and knit the rest as for the index finger.
Ring finger: Knit 17 sts and inc 1 st for the center finger = 18 sts - on the 1st row knit the transition sts to the hand twisted straight to avoid holes. Join and knit the rest as for the index finger.
Thumb: Knit 18 sts from the strand and inc 3 sts at the back in the «thumb-wedge» = 21 sts. Join and knit 6.5 cm [2.5"], bind off as on the index finger. Sew a small st between the fingers.
Knit the other glove in the same fashion, but reverse all shaping.
